Looking to get away from it all? We have the perfect escape in the redwoods of Cazadero that has served as a personal retreat from city life. We adore its creekside setting but also its proximity to both river and ocean, Sonoma county's great wineries and organic farms. Simple living, perfect with its imperfections, this getaway features a great hot tub, outdoor shower, and fireplace to help you relax once the day's activities are over.
Our cabin is nestled in the heart of Cazadero on Austin Creek. It is a cozy blend of rustic + midcentury modern. Its location has made it easy for us to head up from the East Bay for the day or to spend a week here and forget about it all! Take a walk in Armstrong Woods, rent a paddleboat or kayak at Johnson's Beach, satisfy your hunger from any of the restaurants that reach from Guerneville to Duncans Mills, thoroughly unwind with a long soak in the hot tub, and curl up with a good book and glass of wine in front of your fireplace at day's end. At Cazadero, you can fit in as much or as little as you like during your stay.
Guests will have the entire house, its gardens, expansive deck, and hot tub with adjacent outdoor shower to themselves during their stay.
You will have all the privacy you need but have onsite assistance from our neighbor Alicia when she is available. On the property but tucked away from the main house is Alicia's tiny house. She is away part of the week harvesting grapes for a local vineyard and winery during the fall, but if you catch her, let her know and perhaps she can bring back a bottle of wine for you. If you have questions we are just a text or call away.
Internet: We choose not to use internet since this allows use to slow down and settle into a natural rhythm when we stay. However, we understand the need at times to connect, and fortunately for us, guests have reported access to Xfinity from the living room, and connect in one of three ways: 1) Xfinity customers can log-in with their passwords; 2) cabin guests can access a complimentary 1-hour pass; 3) guests can pay Xfinity online for a multi-day pass. Note that we cannot guarantee the reliability or speed of Xfinity.
KITCHEN: Nothing fancy! We have a simple but fully functional 1950's style kitchen: 4-burner stovetop range; fridge/freezer; electric water kettle, microwave oven and toaster oven (built-in oven is too vintage to use).
- For the sake of neighbors, please keep noise down after 9 pm. We prefer no shoes in the house, but we leave it up to you. Feel free to use our fireplace, just remember to bring your own firewood. Dishes must be cleaned before leaving. Used linens and towels: if you can leave these in the laundry basket in laundry room before leaving, we'll take care of the rest, thank you!
