Set on our 17 acre holding on the shores of Lochcarron, near the pretty village of Plockton our cottages sit on our private beach which has a coral strand over which you can walk at low tides to get to the Heron sanctuary island. We keep racoons, llamas, donkeys, goats, sheep, hens, ducks, owls etc and have otters on the beach and many birds to watch and photograph. Perfect place to relax. A pine marten often comes to the window in the evenings for treats. Large part sleeps 4 + 2, small part 2.
If you let us know time of arrival we will meet you and show you in to our cottage which is electrically heated as well as having a wood burning stove, The heaters will be on when you arrive. The local village is two miles away and has great food in two pubs, a restaurant and a takeaway. Walking around the farm with a bag of food, you can feed the animals and, on the beach, watch out for otters, herons and other shore birds. A pine marten may visit your cottage in the evenings for treats. We have a video of pine marten feeding on the back window sill of this cottage taken recently by a guest.
You have the place to your selves, we live a few minutes walk away and can answer most questions you may have. We do not have live television but offer a library of dvds to borrow in our laundry next door the the lodge which is available for you to use if required. There are books to borrow in each cottage as well as in the laundry.
I work on the farm feeding the stock so will be around most of the day to answer any queries you may have. My husband is a teacher in the local high school. He takes computers to Africa for the whole of July with some of his older pupils and they install them in schools over there so if you visit then you may not meet him.
We do have a very poor broadband signal but you are able to use our rooter in our extension amongst our plants! We have a labrador, Bonnie who will be happyto meet with you. Mobile 'phone signal is patchy and the best signal can be found nearer to the big green barn.
The cottage is yours for your stay and we do not interfere. We ask you to leave it as you find it and not go out leaving the heaters on all day!. Pets must not be left alone, and never be allowed on beds or furniture . We recycle as much as possible and our bin men WILL NOT TAKE mixed rubbish so if you leave a bag in your cottage I have to tip it out on my kitchen table and sort out the nappies, coffee grounds, dirty cans half full of pasta sauce, bottles etc! NOT my favourite pastime so if you have brought it with you please at least put SORTED rubbish in the recycling or landfill bins on the road as you come and go from the farm.
