I believe you'll have a memorable stay .. from the moment you open the front door and are wowed by the fabulous view... to the cosy sofas, comfy beds, oriental furnishings and local bistros. If nature is obliging, dolphins & turtles may visit
Our holiday home sits high on an embankment overlooking the sparkling waters of Moreton Bay.
No matter what time of the year you stay ... the changing moods of the bay, will never cease to amaze you. We love the tranquility of the island and it's many simple pleasures, as do our guests.
Imagine ... waking from peaceful slumber, with the sun sparkling on the water.. a new day has dawned... then your morning comes alive with birdsong, sea eagles soar on thermal currents... yachts gently glide past; small motor boats bump and bob in the water.
Linger over breakfast on the deck while planning a round of golf, or to throw in a fishing line .. alternatively why not stretch your legs with a leisurely walk, enjoy island hopping to explore the other Southern Moreton Bay Islands, or a swim at nearby Dalpura Beach.
If a quiet day is preferred, we have a small magazine and novel library, along with adults & children's board games - all available for guests to enjoy whilst staying.
As well as a Plasma TV, there is an iPod/iPhone/stereo CD - play our CD's or bring your favorite music from home.
For guests who have a boat, Sunset Waters has a mooring within eye shot of the house - so please ask us for details. For those who trailer a tinny across to Macleay, there is ample off street parking.
Sunset Waters is a purpose-built holiday home, so includes everything you'll need to enjoy your stay. With modern kitchen appliances, as well as plenty of crockery, cutlery, glassware ... and a panoramic view of the water... spending time in the kitchen has become a lot more enjoyable.
Outdoors, the shady deck overlooks the water, where guests can relax with a good book or coffee, while viewing the Gold Coast and the hinterland beyond.
Enjoy lunch or an evening meal on the outdoor table and chairs, sip a chilled glass of wine or beer as you BBQ your evening meal or relax while watching the setting sun illuminate the evening sky.
Our holiday home has a unique advantage over others - Sunset Waters housekeepers, live next door. You are welcome to knock on their door should you need help or advice at all, or if you prefer your complete privacy, they wont see you other than for an initial introduction and key hand-over.
- The house sits on the rear of the block, without any fence to divide it from an embankment & steep drop to the waters edge below. We have built a timber walkway down to Moreton Bay which is ideal for keen fishermen.. perfect to try your luck while others are still sleeping in the house, a stone's throw away.
However if you intend staying with children, please be aware of our "no fences" prior to making a reservation.
- Macleay Island is well serviced by transport options to and from the mainland, with a passenger ferry (taking passengers only) and a barge (moving people in their cars); with both services operating regularly between 5am-6pm, 7 days a week.
Sunset Waters has a no-smoking policy, however if you do smoke, then we request that you do so outside.
We ask that you leave the house, just as neat & tidy as it was, when you checked in.. thank you.
We have a strict "No Partying" policy at Sunset Waters, so trust you will abide by this rule.

Paul & I lived and worked in Melbourne for many years, however we are currently enjoying country life. For us, holidays are either to relax or to explore; so when we venture to new destinations, we like to meet the locals, eat in interesting cafes & restaurants, as well as take in the wonderful sights & sounds of the new area, whether it be in Australia or overseas. However, we also spend time in several favourite holiday spots, not too far from home; where often the family join us for a weekend.
We have our own special getaway destination called Sunset Waters on Macleay Island. It's our little piece of paradise where we visit as much as possible, however we also make our holiday home available for guests.
