This unique house is ideal for groups or large families and offers an unique option to experience a Kalahari working farm. Relax while enjoying the natural surrounds of the Kalahari in a remote and private area on the farm 60 km east of Askham.
A central large 3 bedroom area houses a communal dining, barbecue and recreation area while the extra bedrooms and bathrooms are situated in 4 separate granny flats , 2 of which have a small kitchenette. Relax on a large porch , barbecue or cook on a wood stove indoors or outdoors while still having all the convenience of electrical appliances and refrigeration in a large well equipped central kitchen. Enjoy sun downers on the pool deck overlooking a game waterhole.Location and design of the house creates a perfect place for special events, family reunions or intimate weddings
Private use of the house during your full stay. Take walks through the veldt, climb the red dunes or enjoy viewing a range of antelope present around the house. Guided drives through the rest if the farm are possible with prior arrangement.
We do not live permanently on the farm but in house personnel are present at the facilities during your full stay. Accompanied drives through the rest of the farm can be arranged, except on Sundays.
All food stuff and supplies need to be purchased at either Upington or Kuruman before arrival as there are no well stocked shops close to the Farm.
A signed indemnity will be requested on arrival.Noise levels are to be kept to a minimum. All children under the age of 18 need to be under strict supervision. It is prohibited to enter the adjoining veldt by foot or by vehicle after Sunset or before Sunrise. Collection of firewood and making of any fires outside the dedicated areas is strictly prohibited. This is a remote area so guests must please have taken measures to ensure that they are well informed and equipped in the event of a medical or any other type of emergency.
My home town is on the edge of the Kalahari desert but has the wide Orange River running through it providing us with a lush strip of green in the barrenness. I love both river and desert!
