I would describe myself as honest, reliable, caring and understanding.
I love history and the classics, I studied them in university and have never lost that interest. Really like Irish history, the vikings and the ancient world.
I do a lot of voluntary work, it is a big part of who I am. I have been involved for over 20 years supporting different organisations and projects. I think life can be very hard for people and if you can help a little and bring a bit of light into a dark time, you should.
Am a dreamer, I love old buildings and castles. If I had a few million, I would restore old buildings/castles to their former glory. I think its sad to see an old building neglected and unloved especially ones of cultural importance.
I have a really bad memory for names, I mix up my boys. My father called my by his sisters name for most of my life, so I am totally blaming him on this fault in my character.
My hosting style varies, I keep a clean house, your room is prepared and cleaned and I do your bathroom everyday. I normally try to work out, what sort of interaction a guest needs. Some guests just need a little support and are happy to stay private and relax in their room, others need/want more interaction. I base my style on what I pick up from my guest.
My own private time, I watch films, read books or watch documentaries, I pop the laptop or book beside me and curl under the duvet, my little bit of heaven.
My married and have two boys 7 and 10, motherhood changes you in many ways, I love children and I love their imagination, their endless questions and desire for knowledge and often quirky way of looking at the world. There is never a day that goes by, that I don't laugh at some statement or comment from one of my children.
Our house is 60 years old, when we bought it, it was falling apart. Myself and my husband spent 2 years learning new skills or doing hard labour. We learnt loads of new skills, cried a lot and made great neighbours who did really help us. Not sure I would ever tackle that level of work again. Don't mention the building work in ear shot of my husband or the old photographs will come out !!!!
