There will always be a warm welcome at The Old Stables (even if we are not around!). We have a lovely double room available, with TV, tea & coffee making facilities, and a continental breakfast is provided. You have your own private bathroom, with a large double walk in shower and roll top bath. There is great walking, running, fishing, cycling, climbing and golf all on our doorstep with good views from the house of Bamford Edge, Win Hill and Shatton Moor.
The Old Stables is a beautifully converted Coach House dating from around the 1860's and has been tastefully updated retaining many original features in the spacious rooms. Upstairs (on the landing near your room) there is a small seating / table area and also a sofa for your use. In the summer (and winter if you are very hardy!) you can relax in the walled patio, courtyard or in the garden.
As well as your own room which has tea and coffee making facilities, you are welcome to make use of the dining room cum library.
If you are planning on bringing bikes, that is no problem and we can provide you some secure space in the garage for them, we just ask that you let us know in advance. If you are interested in cycling you can hire quality bikes at the nearby bike shop or over at Fairholmes.
We can provide you with lots of information on things to do in the local area and have plenty of maps, etc.. for you to borrow if you are new to the area.
Check in is after 4.00 pm up until 8.00 pm, however if you cannot arrive during this period do let us know and we will see what we can work out. Departure is by 10.00 am please but if you need to leave a bag for a while longer, do let us know and we will try to arrange this.
The Old Stables is centrally located in Bamford and although we are set back a little from the main road, from time to time (normally early morning / tea time), there is some traffic noise mixed in with the bleating of the local sheep!
A breakfast of fruit, cereals, toast, tea, coffee (incl. decaf) and juice is always available for you to help yourself to, we just ask that you clear away afterwards. However if you fancy a 'Full English' the Rest Cafe a couple of hundreds yards away will fulfill your needs!
Outdoor shoes must be taken off and left in the utility / boot room, so do feel free to bring your favourite slippers to wear inside. Boots can be dried out next to the radiator, as can coats, which can be hung above.
We ask for quiet after 11pm please.
Finally, you are obliged to stroke Mutley the Cockapoo if he comes to see you, and he will of course report back to us if this rule isn't fully complied with!!!

Myself and Fiona will be delighted to welcome you here and share our home in the beautiful Peak District with you. Our rather daft Cockapoo Mutley will also be keen to greet you but for those of you unsure about dogs once he has greeted you, he will then happily leave you alone!
After many years of living in Lincolnshire we moved back to Derbyshire in 2015 in order to be nearer the hills and all the places we love. Although we both work, we have a spare guest room we would like to share with others, who like us, may prefer to stay in informal accommodation rather than a hotel. If you chose to stay with us you can be assured of a warm welcome to our family house and whilst we will be happy to chat and provide you with information on the local area we will also be very happy to leave you to own devices.
It is our home so there will be times when it may be busier than others and even messier than others but we trust you will always find it clean and welcoming!
We will look forward to meeting you.
