Thanks for your comments, we are learning everyday how to improve our listing and profile our place. Trying to view your cons from both our perspectives I would like to comment:
Your expectation to have an entire unit for yourselves:
From our side as hosts, when we put up our listing Airbnb gives us 3 choices to describe what we offer: Entire PLACE, entire room, or a shared room.
As in this specific listing we are offering an entire floor living area including 2 spacious bedrooms, a big bathroom and an open living space with kitchen, dining room and lounge + free usage of the 3rd floor viewing deck, garage, laundry, swimming pool and garden, I logically ticked “Entire place”.
In our detailed description I explained that you will have 1 floor as part of a 2 floor house with a viewing deck on top that is accessible for all guests staying in the house.
However, just today, after reading your comment, I checked what you see as a guest when you select a place to stay. When you as a guest want to book, Airbnb offers you 3 different choices to tick: Entire HOME (Have the place for yourself), Private ROOM, Shared ROOM.
So consequently, I can now understand where your expectation came from and will signal Airbnb that the choices given to hosts versus guests leads to different perceptions and non-fulfillment of expectations.
Your expectation that a host should be living on site:
If your wish was to have an entire home, why than would you wish the host to live on site? In the trend of shared economy there are many properties offered on Airbnb where the host doesn’t live on site and that include some places with access to all guests.
You had to walk past the other guest’s lounge room that was being utilized as an extra sleeping area:
We had accepted that the other guests staying on the ground floor to bring 2 more guests and to use part of the dining room for installing the extra bed as this would be out of sight...
Now that I better understand where your expectations came from we may opt to do some alterations in the house to keep the upper floor 100% for their private use if they wish not to share access to our beautiful view deck on top of the house.
