This is a unique opportunity to stay in the home of a well known local photographer and enjoy the art gallery atmosphere, with extensive photographic award winning artwork displayed on each of the 2 floors. You will have private access and separate entry to 1/2 of a 5,000 sq. foot home on one of Savannah's coastal islands. This space has a screened in porch, pinewood dining room / kitchen with fireplace and large beautiful custom made bar, large master bedroom and bath with shower and claw foot bath tub on the first floor. Upstairs is a large living room space 2nd bedroom and bathroom, office area and a gym.
This home is located on a famous sight, the former Johnny Mercer Plantation. If you are not familiar, Johnny was an American lyricist, songwriter and singer as well as a co-founder of Capitol records. He is a favorite son of Savannah, Ga. Johnny grew up here on Burnside Island, his former home stands opposite to the entrance to this property. Johnny composed "Moon River" here , there is still a sign that stands close by naming this sight "The Rainbow's End".
Booking this space will give you the option of experiencing coastal living with lots of access to nature, as well as being close to downtown Savannah, which is an easy 17 minute drive. If you enjoy nature, history and photography, this booking is a great choice!
As our guests, you will have private access to 2 floors of living space, full kitchen, dining area, gym, large custom bar, screened in porch, outdoor patio with firepit, front and backyards, as well as neighborhood access for walking or biking (bring your own). If you want to kayak, the Moon River can easily be accessed at nearby Butterbean Beach.
We are on the property in the other side of the home. Please communicate your interaction preferences which we will respect completely.
This home is located on one of Savannah's many coastal islands, it is a 17 MINUTE drive on the Truman Parkway to get to downtown and the Historic District. It is a 17 MILE drive on that same parkway to get to the closest BEACH, Tybee Island. There are other coastal areas with public water access, that are much closer if you are more interested in boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, or swimming in the rivers. Hilton Head Beaches (5 stars) are a further 75 minute drive, but very worth it.
