A fully restored country "bergerie" situated in the heart of the lavender country of Haute Provence, "L’Ourdissoir" combines the best of both worlds, old and new, including a private plunge pool just steps from your door,
Fully restored in 2008, L’Ourdissoir combines the best of both worlds, old and new. Originally a grange, then a weaver's atelier, it is an independent, separate stone cottage with 75 m2 of living space, restored with great attention to detail. Downstairs, the 35 M2 living area is designed for comfortable living while retaining the cachet of the original stone structure (exposed stone walls, old beams, local stone pavers): a new, fully-equipped kitchen, spacious and inviting dining and sitting areas to be enjoyed during all seasons, thanks to thick stone walls, double-glazed windows and a state-of-the-art “green” wood pellet stove.
The two bedrooms will accommodate up to four people: the larger one upstairs has a queen-sized bed (160 cm) and direct access to the garden and outdoor sitting areas, while the downstairs bedroom has a double bed (140 cm), a WC and washbasin for your convenience. Upstairs, the bathroom has a shower, separate WC, large washbasin and washing machine (clothes can be dried by the provençal sun on an outdoor line in a beautiful spot or in an electric dryer located in the stone cabanon two steps from the house). All rooms have views of the pool, garden, orchard and hills.
At L’Ourdissoir opportunities for outdoor living abound and your home has three points of access to the exterior. Just steps from your cottage door you will enjoy own private plunge pool (2.3 x 3.4 meters) set in local stone for your exclusive use. The one-hectare (2.5 acres) park-like setting includes a variety of spaces to enjoy sun or shade provided by the many species of mature trees, seclusion or open views during all seasons and a variety of garden furniture to enhance your comfort and enjoyment (benches, outdoor tables & chairs, hammocks, sun loungers). It is an ideal place for reading, writing, painting, al fresco dining, yoga, relaxing, bird watching, strolling, picnicking. Cradled in a peaceful valley, the property is surrounded by open fields and a hillside covered with native vegetation (wild lavender, thyme and savory) and crisscrossed by dry stone walls. We enjoy views of the Montagne de Lure to the east, and the village of L’Hospitalet to the south.
