We are so sorry to hear that you were not entirely happy with your stay. This is the first time anyone has mentioned the local fauna as a negative- our guests always comment on how much they love the large garden with all its Mediterranean flowers, and that this is one of the highlights of the property- we ourselves feel there is nothing lovelier than the lavender in full flower , with the bees and other insects buzzing about its flowers during the day- the real sound of a southern Mediterranean summer. We do encourage the bees along with other small insects, and the small animals that are native to the mountain. Mosquitoes are irritating, though they are everywhere in this part of the world, though less than other places due to the sea breeze which they appear not to like. We do advise though, as with anywhere else along the coast-to use insect repellent and not leave the lights on at night with the doors open.
As you point out, the description of the house is very clear that it is secluded and at the top of the village (which is of course built on a mountain side), surrounded on all sides by olive groves (and Ida's amazing flowers), and there are steps to reach it from the road and it is not suitable for people who have difficulty with steps- which is what can be said for the entire Amalfi coast where the directions are always either up or down the mountain.
Regarding the cats- well, all we can say is they are part of the Italian landscape.
Again, we are sorry you did not enjoy your stay as much as we would have hoped you would, and wish you all the best in your future holidays.
