Kai Honu Hale is a 3-level 3 bedroom oceanfront house designed to make you feel like you are floating on the water. Unobstructed views of the ocean with whales and turtles passing right in front. Enjoy magnificent sunrises and the sound of ocean waves with refreshing sea breezes.
What makes this space unique is that there is ocean views from every room and also from the outside lanais. The house is decorated with Hawaiian-style furnishings. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a fully-equipped kitchen. The rental has all the necessities of home. There are three huge windows in the living room letting the light permeate throughout the home. Available for use is a washer and dryer located in the garage along with a charcoal BBQ but please bring your own charcoals. The house is on the northeast coast outside of Hilo. There is excellent air quality because of the prevailing trade winds and daytime sea breezes coming off the water. The next land offshore to the northeast is California nearly 2500 miles away. A little advertised fact is that some other parts of the island of Hawaii, namely the southeast (Kau) and west (Kona) sides, are plagued by volcanic haze or vog emanating from the Kilauea volcano. This house and location rarely, if ever, have vog around.
The rent which includes the 14.25% excise and transient taxes starts at $155/night for 2 guests. There are discounts for weekly and monthly visits. Each additional guest is $20/night with the taxes included. The winter months when whales may be around is from December through April and the basic rent starts at $175/night for 2 guests. The cleaning fee is $125 regardless of the length of the visit.
Guests have the use of the entire house for their Hawaiian vacation. There is a 32" flat screen tv with direct tv along with a small video library. There is also free wifi.
In the garage you will find for your use, some water toys, styrofoam cooler, masks and snorkels. There is also a charcoal BBQ also but please bring your own lighter and charcoals. The washer and dryer is also located here too.
Our nightly rate has the 14.25% Hawaii transient tax added into it. So your nightly rate is actually less than you would think. On average it's about $20 less per night. We are also advertised on another website with a lesser rental rate per night but the transient tax is added on top of the rental rate along with a substantial service fee that the website charges our guest so booking on Airbnb is the best way to go.

My style of hosting is to be there for my guests for any questions or concerns. I'm born and raised in Hawai'i so I know a lot about the area versus other vacation rental owners who don't even live here. I like to give my guest their own space. I will not bother you during your stay. Kai Honu Hale is your home away from home.
I don't have a favorite destination to travel to. I just want to travel somewhere but its hard to leave Big Island. Its so naturally beautiful and raw. If you want to have a vacation somewhere peaceful and not over-crowded, Pahoa is the place to visit especially when you can stay in an oceanfront house.
My life motto is to live each day to the fullest because you never know if its your last. Life is too short to deal with people who want to bring you down. Surround yourself with those who bring you joy.
