This is a small cabin and we do not allow more than 4 people living there at a time. Please observe this. If you have extra guests there is an extra fee of $20 per person per night.
Our cabin is seasonal and available for guests from July 1 through October 31. Book early to ensure you get the time period you would like on beautiful Highland Lake. The fees are $150 per night, $25 cleaning fee and 9% mandated tax by the state of Maine.
Our cabin is in a secluded area of the property so it is very private. It is the perfect size for honeymooners or a small family. Lake access is 20 feet away! There is a beach and kayaks for your use. Summer or Fall is perfect for staying here.
Our cabin is on the rustic side but comfortable. The kitchen has a table and chairs, pots, pans, dishes, glassware, utensils, electric stove/oven, refrigerator, Keurig cup at a time brewer, toaster oven and microwave. The open living space has a queen size bed, fireplace, a sitting area and dining area that looks out to the lake. There are 2 twin beds in the loft above the kitchen. We do not provide sheets, pillowcases or towels. Bring your own linens for a queen bed and two twin beds. Should you forget to bring your linens we will provide them at a cost of $25 . The bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet.
The cabin is accessed by a 1/2 mile drive from Highland Rd to the lake through a forest of pine, maple, oak and hemlock on a camp road. It can be rough but we drive it regularly in a Honda van. This is a shared private road so it will only have traffic from the other cabin down the road. You are welcome to any blueberries, raspberries, grapes and apples growing on the property. There are 2 kayaks and safety vests for the use of our guests. We are happy to give kayak instruction if (URL HIDDEN) is fun, easy and the lake and islands are wonderful to explore. There are also 2 bicycles for getting around the town but driving them up and down the camp road can be an adventure in itself. You may see deer, groundhog, fox, moose and other critters. Be sure to bring cameras for that happy possibility. It is a quiet secluded piece of heaven.
We live on the property 1/2 mile away and can be reached by phone should any problems arise. You are welcome to visit our flower gardens anytime you like...or help with weeding! The apple orchard is next to the camp road where you are welcome to wander. These old trees bear in the Fall and the fruit has been delicious.
Our town of Bridgton is a sweet small town that has parks, Pleasant mountain, locally owned restaurants, shopping, public access on Highland Lake, and summer camps. Across from the main house is a beautiful golf course and tennis club. It is open to the public and their rates are quite fair. Beth's Kitchen Cafe, Vivo Italian Restaurant and Ricky's Diner are local favorites for dining. There is an indoor movie theatre and, for a fun evening, try the drive-in movie theatre.
Bridgton is about 40 miles northwest of Portland. There is a bus that goes to Portland and back . The best way to get around is bicycles, cars and walking. We have 2 bikes for you to use but I advise a car as the best way to get to town then walk to experience the town.
There is no wifi, or television. (We are in the woods of Maine). Cell phones do work as Pleasant Mountain (just to the west )has cell towers. There are several places in our quaint town of Bridgton where there is wifi...the library, Beth's Kitchen and Cafe, etc. Most visitors are here for lake activities but there is shopping in town and a few restaurants. A trip to Reny's department store is a must, and be sure to stop in at the Firefly Boutique. There are an abundance of hiking trails in the area that include Pleasant Mountain which has skiing in the winter.
We would enjoy your company but are happy to have you be on your own. Once on the lake you may not want to leave. Fishing, swimming, kayaking and hiking is highly recommended.
We provide much that will make your stay comfortable. The kitchen has plenty of cookware and we provide a Keurig single cup hot drink maker with a variety of k cups for you to use. We do not provide sheets, pillow cases or towels. So remember to bring your own..there are 2 twin size beds and a queen size bed. Each bed does have a mattress cover in place and comforter or blankets. I realize I am repeating myself about the linens, but not everyone reads the entire listing.
Smoking is not allowed in the cabin and we ask that you also not smoke outdoors due to being in the woods. Fireworks are not permitted on our property. No parties or loud events.
The cozy cabin on the lake is part of our lovely property on nearly 30 acres of pine, hemlock and other hardwood trees. It has been in our family for over 50 years. We see ourselves as caretakers of this beautiful place and hope to share it with you. My husband Edward and I are avid gardeners, artists and enjoy playing golf and tennis. Come for a visit and see some of the beauty of Maine.
