Would highly recommend staying at Anya's home. Very comfortable, unique, and beautiful house. Felt like a home away from home. My family and I enjoyed our stay!

Anya was a great hostess! She got back with me very quickly whenever I emailed her. She met us at the house, gave us a tour and was available if we needed her. Anya is very friendly and outgoing. We would love to have talked more with her. The house was clean, inviting, charming,…

Anya has a very unique home with many antiques, and her personality shines through the house. Plenty of space for five of us, and it is very close to the local businesses. We would happily stay with Anya again.

This guest had damaged something in my house, and this review seems to be retaliation for my request for reimbursement. There are some points that are loosely valid, but overall, they are quite exaggerated and unnecessarily negative. Here is my responses to the points that were brought up: I had had a guest leave right before these guests came, so the linens were completely fresh. I find it hard to believe that their pants became dirty from sitting on the bed since I had just cleaned it. The description of the house incudes my cat cinder and he is in one of the photos, he stays elsewhere when people rent the whole house. Ironically the cat has not been in the house for several months, and though several of his possessions remain in the house, they are in a small area of the house on the first floor. The cat also doesn’t shed, and is likely hypoallergenic. This is a bad time for allergies though (and I feel for the friend because I also suffer from allergies; it must be even worse since they flew in from out of state and are in a new environment) the pollen counts have been high lately, and since we are in an agricultural area and it is harvest season, there is probably more refuse in the air. Since most of the windows in the house are open this time of year to enjoy fresh air, I can see how that could have exacerbated the friend’s situation. I must admit that the dust in the house can be hard to maintain, especially in the summer when the windows are open (with screens) for most of the season. Dust is also more visible in houses with wood floors in contrast to carpets, but interestingly studies have shown that the air quality is better (since it doesn’t trap the dust despite the visibility). I believe the cleaning fee for whole house rentals adequately reflects the cost and time it takes to launder all of the bed sheets, make the beds, thoroughly clean the bathrooms, etc. I tackle the dust constantly, but it is amazing how in an historic house with open windows how dust can accumulate within even a day. The recycling is in plain sight in the kitchen because I found guests remember to recycle more when what can be recycled is obvious. I am trying to head towards zero waste, and I am grateful whenever my guests help me out with that through composting and recycling, and over the years I have been trying out different ways to make that as obvious and easy as possible. The yard is definitely a different style, and as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I spend a lot of time in the backcountry with the sports that I love (mountaineering, rock climbing), so I enjoy my garden even in it’s weediest state, but I can understand how that aesthetic is not everyone’s cup of tea The yard is actually a really productive organic garden that provides a lot of food for me over the year (and a great variety of pollen for the butterflies and bees!), but this time of year I tend to have a losing battle with the weeds (the soil is incredibly rich here so things really take off). I should probably post a picture or provide an explanation of that so people aren’t surprised. I apologized for the bush trimmings in the driveway. I had placed them halfway down the driveway thinking no one would drive past that area since there is room for two cars before that spot, and there is ample street parking. For future guests, please consider all of the above information when making your reservation. And if you have any suggestions how I can better communicate the reality of my house to prospective guests I would appreciate it. I really love my home, and I truly enjoy sharing it with guests that also appreciate it.

The house is located close to the interstate highway and it's on a quiet street. Since there were just two of us we did enjoy the use of the entire house very much. You will probably find the property overgrown with vegetation and vines. Hopefully the fleas will be gone when you …

I was out of town for two weeks when Herman and his son rented the house, and felt horrible that they encountered fleas in the front room when they arrived. I had never had an issue with fleas before, so it came as quite a surprise. Thankfully the situation with the fleas has been mitigated, and I haven't noticed any since I got back in town. No other guests have mentioned any flea sightings.
