Enjoy the jungle sounds and cool breezes in our lofted cottage. Hang out on the screened in porch and swing in the hammock with a good book or an afternoon nap.
The cottage is 68 steps down to the front door and is in the middle of lush green trees. Overlook the hills of Coral Bay and over to Tortola from the porch.
The main level includes the kitchen, living room and bathroom. The dining table with seating for 4, a sitting area and a hammock are on the screened in porch. A queen size bed is located in the loft which
is accessed by a ladder.
Tropical Tree House has a fully equipped kitchen, a gas grill, filtered drinking water, ice maker, WIFI, cable TV, iPhone 5 dock, beach towels and chairs and a cooler.
AT&T Cell service available. If you don't have AT&T, I suggest contacting your cell provider to see what service options are available to you.
A washer and dryer is on the lower level.
When the tropical breezes just aren't enough the cottage is fully air conditioned!
A 4 wheel drive vehicle is necessary. St. John has steep hills and sharp switchback turns
If you need anything I will be happy to try and help. I'll be just a text or phone call away.
There is 68 step staircase from parking to the front door.
The Virgin Islands power grid occasionally goes down. Nothing to do but wait it out. Should this occur DO NOT USE ANY WATER OR FLUSH THE TOILET....THIS WOULD DE-PRIME THE PUMP REQUIRING SOMEONE TO COME TO THE HOUSE TO REPAIR IT AFTER THE POWER COMES BACK ON..... If it's in the day, just to the beach!
IMPORTANT HOUSE INFORMATION:
1) WATER CONSERVATION:
There is no public water on St. John. Our water is collected from rain and stored in a cistern below the house and pumped into the house by an electric pump. Please conserve water every way possible....for example, shut the shower off while lathering up, and then turn the water back on to rinse off...thank you!!!
"On this island in the sun, we do not flush for Number 1"
Loss of electrical power, cable and wifi occur occasionally and are part of island life. Should this happen, it usually lasts just a short time.
DO NOT USE ANY WATER DURING A POWER OUTAGE. Do not turn on faucets or flush the toilet....doing so will de-prime the electrical pump and a maintenance person will need to come to the house to fix it which will extend the time you would not have water. It can also burn out and ruin the pump.
We have a monthly pest control service. Please be sure to wash dishes right away to avoid attracting insects. Trash should be thrown out daily....trash bags are supplied.
4) WASHER & DRYER:
Please be sure to completely shake sand out of your laundry...especially beach towels....Sand can clog and ruin both the washer and the dryer.
Special "he" detergent is supplied for the front load washer...Regular detergent cannot be used. "he" detergent is very concentrated, use only a couple tablespoons of per load.
5) AIR CONDITIONING:
The US Virgin Islands has the most expensive electric rates in the United States. We have a brand new whole house unit which is extremely quick to cool the house. Just point the remote directly to the AC and hit (URL HIDDEN) will take about 10 seconds for the unit to start. Please turn the AC off before you leave the house for the day....thank you!
Should a hurricane threaten, we need to close down the house completely. You will not be allowed to stay in the house during a hurricane. It is strongly suggested that you fly back to the states before it arrives. We suggest that our guests purchase trip insurance to cover this possibility.
