Artist Robert Masla and his wife Monica Levine, invite you to rent their oceanside home and studio locate in the unique, relaxed, tropical environment of the charming fishing village of Boca de Tomatlan, 10 miles South of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
We are located where the Horcones river meets the Boca bay, on the south side of the river in the charming fishing village of Boca. Casa de los Artistas is built with the jungle and mountains behind it and the river and ocean at their front door. The open air studio on the top floor is approximately 1,000 +sq. ft. with panoramic vistas of the Boca, river and bay. All rooms at Casa de los Artistas are private rooms with, what is called in Mexico, a ‘matrimonial” size bed, which is larger than a double, slightly smaller than a queen, (all our guests who have shared these beds have found them comfortable) also 1 “king” size, which is quite large in the master suite. All have views of the water -from Bed! All have a private bath or shower, nicely tiled with hand painted terra cotta sinks. All have a terrace and chairs for taking in the view of the Boca, river and bay.
We are located on the"other side of the river" which does not have access by car. Your taxi from the airport (or P.V. city bus runs every 20 minutes from 6am till 11pm from Bassilio Badillio on the Southside of PV and drops you at the top of the small hill in Boca village), will take you to La Playa, (the beach), in Boca, (there is also a parking lot there). You can get across the river in a # of ways; our favorite during the winter is just to wade across the river which is usually not wide or deeep, (ankle to waist deep depending on the tide), you can take the 8 minute walk over the foot bridge and down the short jungle path or you can always find a local fisherman for 10 pesos a bag and person to ferry you across the river. You should be in reasonable physical health and sure footed to participate and enjoy your Casa Experience. Physical ability to climb stairs, (the studio is on the 3rd floor of the Casa), and walk uneven terrain, (cobblestone streets, and uneven paths) is a must. There are many great hiking trails around the area.
We typically due whole house week rentals, but will occasionally make exceptions. Inquire about availability for our single room B&B during season, ($110. per night). We are there from Dec. to end of March running workshops and B&B. Other times there is a grounds keeper and house keeper.
Leave the hectic day behind, come and enjoy the tropical lifestyle on Mexican time. Puerto Vallarta/ Boca de Tomatlan is tropical, located on the same parallel as the Hawaiian Islands The temperature averages 28 degrees C. 82 degrees F. in the fall, winter, and spring to the high 80’s and 90’s F. in the summer, with an average of 300 sunny days a year. The rainy season is from late July or August to mid to late October. Being right on the ocean with the mountains behind us, in the winter months, the mornings and evenings can be quite cool, so be sure to bring a warm sweatshirt, sweater or light jacket.
