Come rest your body and soul in a cozy private room with a queen bed in Cleveland's West Park neighborhood! My place is convenient to Kamm's Corners, West Park, Downtown Cleveland, the RTA Red Line (which is an easy walk from my home), Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (just a 5 minute drive or 2 stops on the Red Line), shopping and dining, and the Cleveland Metroparks. My home has one bathroom which you will share with me.
You’ll love my home because of the location, charming decor and cozy atmosphere. I have photos from my travels everywhere, and time zone clocks and a world map in my living room! Fun fact: even the 8 x 10 photos were shot with an iPhone 4.
The guest bedroom features a comfy queen size bed, 2 nightstands, a dresser, and a closet.
The guest room electrical work has been updated as of September 2017! There are 3 prong outlets available behind the curtains on the bedroom window that is NOT behind the bed, and on the right side of the dresser when looking at it. The outlet closest to the nightstand is still two prong, unfortunately. However this is a huge improvement over the previous lack of three prong outlets in that room!
My home combines a modern feel with some art-deco architecture touches such as arched doorways and built-in shelving. Those details are a nod to the fact that my home was built in 1940!
I have ample street parking available as well as off-street parking in my driveway. You'll be assigned one side of the driveway, so that I don't get blocked into my garage. ***I do not have garage access for guests.***
My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and for small dogs under 25 pounds. Please note that the bathroom is shared but I am happy to defer to your schedule when it comes to showers, because you are the guest!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND MY HOME FOR PEOPLE TRAVELING WITH YOUNG CHILDREN. I am not childproofed at all, nor do I have any extra amenities like cribs, extra kid-size mattresses, pack-n-plays, etc.
My kitchen is fully stocked with silverware, plates, cups, and cookware basics. It also has a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, and stove/oven. You are welcome to grocery shop and cook.
I do not provide full meals or groceries for guests, but I do provide a coffee maker, coffee, and tea. I am not a huge coffee drinker myself so items like cream, sugar, etc. are hit or miss in my house. ;)
You will have access to the living room, kitchen, dining area, bathroom, and your guest bedroom. You are also welcome to use the washer/dryer located in the basement.
***I DO NOT HAVE AN IRON/IRONING BOARD. Please plan accordingly.***
Feel welcome to come and go as you please, on your own schedule/timeline!
Check-in time is firm 3 PM and check-out is firm 11 AM. I cannot allow early check-ins because I need adequate time to clean from previous guests. If you need to arrive earlier than 3 PM or stay later than 11 AM including room access you're welcome to book an extra night before or after!
Monday-Friday I work from 8 AM to 4 PM except during the summer months. I work from home in my office full time. Please note that my home office is located on the opposite side of the guest room, and I might have conference calls in the morning. I close the door and do my best to keep the volume down.
If you will be arriving or departing at a time I'm not home, or very late night when I am not awake, I have a lockbox for your use to make arriving and departing as simple as possible! I cannot adjust the 3 PM check-in time to earlier. I need adequate prep time for the room between the last check-out and your check-in. If you need to arrive earlier than 3 PM and need access to the room, I suggest adding an extra night onto your stay (i.e. - include Monday night in your booking, then let me know in a message that you will actually arrive Tuesday). This is the only way I can accommodate "early" arrivals.
I love to show visitors how awesome Cleveland is. I can be whatever you prefer: a local guide who gets to know you and takes you to a great local spot for dinner, or I can leave you be to enjoy quiet relaxation on your own. It's up to you! Communicate with me and I'll do my best to accommodate you.
I have a rescue bichon frise named Bob Barker. He is very friendly with other dogs so I welcome small dogs under 25 lbs! I cannot accept cats due to allergies. Bichons are hypo allergenic and shed a minimal amount and those typically allergic to dogs don't have reactions to Bob. My yard is fenced in so that pets have a place to run around outside.
***PLEASE NOTE*** You are responsible for your pet. If you are bringing your pet but will be gone all day I cannot guarantee that I will be home to watch him or her, or let him/her out to potty. If I am available I am happy to do this for you for an additional $15 fee per day. If I am NOT available I am happy to refer you to nearby doggie day cares in the area. I let Bob have roam of the house when I am not home, but you know your pet best as to whether he/she can be left alone or needs to be crated. You must provide your own crate if this is the case.
***IF YOU ARE INQUIRING OR TRYING TO BOOK PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME YOUR PHONE NUMBER IN A MESSAGE. AIRBNB REMOVES THIS INFORMATION AND I CANNOT VIEW IT UNLESS YOUR BOOKING GOES THROUGH. I RESPOND TO MESSAGES USUALLY WITHIN A FEW MINUTES WITH A PRE-APPROVAL IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH INSTA-BOOK! I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CALL YOU UNTIL AFTER YOUR BOOKING IS CONFIRMED. THANKS!***
- Dogs only, no cats.
-Smoking is OK outside ONLY.
-Please clean up kitchen if you use it.
-No cooking of seafood, recipes with curry/other strong smelling spices, or deep-fried items in the kitchen. This helps control unpleasant odors that get "stuck" in the house.
-Check-in time is STRICT at 3 PM or later!!! I cannot guarantee that I can accommodate early arrivals or luggage drop-offs.
-ABSOLUTELY NO MAIL OR PACKAGES ACCEPTED ON BEHALF OF GUESTS. I can provide to you the nearest post office address, where you can have items sent if needed as "general delivery," and you can pick it up there.
I am a full time virtual teacher and MBA who loves meeting new people from other places! I love showing guests real midwestern hospitality. In the past my travels have taken me to Belize, France, Canada, Mexico, and all over the United States. I also lived in North Carolina for 6 years. However, I grew up in Northeast Ohio and there's nowhere I'd rather be.
