We loved staying here for 2 nights in traditional Fijian Bures (made by locals from bamboo and palm leaves) even though it rained for the entire time and there wasn't much to do; we missed out on the hiking, rafting and swimming because of the bad weather. The staff, Millie, Sarah, Vitu & Ben were welcoming and hospitable and made us feel at home from the start; they took care of us and ensured we were comfortable. We fell in love with Millie's daughter, Tracey who came by after school to play with the kids of another family staying at the retreat. By the end of our stay, we all felt like family and we were sad to say goodbye (especially when the staff sung the Fijian farewell song). We were well fed with three Fijian meals per day prepared by the staff in the kitchen Bure. The dishes were made from locally grown vegetables; they were big portions and delicious and eaten together with all guests and staff in the communal Bure. This retreat is located next to a small village where the staff live and farm. It is located inland from Pacific Harbour and it's a difficult drive to get there even for an experienced driver and you need a reliable 4WD (we hired a Mazda BT50 from Budget for about $150 Fiji/day); but the scenery is breathtaking. There is a community bus or you can hire a 4WD with a driver instead. Finally, be advised you have to cross a river on foot or by inflatable raft to reach the accommodation and the facilities are traditional so very basic in comparison to what you may be accustomed to. It is completely unplugged so there is no hot water and no electricity. I would recommend this accommodation for those wanting an out-of-the ordinary experience in a beautiful setting.

Danny is fantastic! He's a local from the village and knows all the little secrets about the rainforest, the traditions and the history of Fiji. He guided us through one of the most amazing tropical hikes in the rainforest and was so kind to provide us with healthy local food every day. Our experience was unparalleled and I can't speak highly enough of it. Totally recommended for anyone who wants to escape from the city life to a totally unplugged getaway at a tropical place in the mountains, with the kind and friendly people of Fiji.

We loved this place, and can't recommend it highly enough. Daniel is a welcoming and informed host, and the retreat itself is an experience I don't think you'd get anywhere else - authentic bures built by the local village people, a river nearby for swimming, the stunning Fiji highlands to see, and three meals each day provided by the wonderful village women who come to the retreat to make the food. We loved how 'unplugged' Namosi is, and how much it offered us an insight into the traditional Fijian way of life. The drive in to Namosi is a little hard going (about an hour on unsealed, hilly roads) but don't let that stop you having this amazing experience.
