Romantic, elegant, tasteful very private getaway for two in our "Treehouse" with sleeping loft, full kitchen & bathroom, screened porch, deck and sauna outside & below. Overlooking pasture and mountains. 3 miles hiking trails on property, relax by the pond or walk to West River, mountain bike on roads & trails. Guest house on private 160 acre horse farm. Shopping in Manchester, Summer Horse Show for 6 wks in Dorset, Theater in Weston and Dorset, SoLo Farm to Table restaurant 3 miles away. Ahhh
This is a private, quiet, self-contained, romantic cottage, away from the main house. Spectacular views, watch the moon rise from your queen-size bed. Stunning architecture, with artistic details. Screened porch with private view of mountains. Deck and stairway to lower level for sauna with shower. Pond and miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, relaxing. Horses and chickens on property. It is our favorite place on our private horse farm. We would expect guests to treat it as their own very special, favorite space. Would want to know something about you before approving any booking. Special antique floors so no pets or shoes please.
Guests can use the driveway past the main house to get to Tree House.
Hosts available by phone to answer any questions if not on premises. If on premises, hosts allow guests total privacy if desired. Caretaker family on the property nearby. Happy to give suggestions for things to do before you arrive.
This airy space with views all around, books to enjoy while visiting, and lists of things to do. Local papers for things to do and maps on table when you arrive. If you love good food (and Vermont is known for that), our favorite special restaurants are SoLo Farm to Table (3 miles away), Downtown Groceries (in Ludlow) and Silver Fork (in Manchester). These restaurants are extremely popular so making reservations in advance is strongly recommended. The Northshire Bookstore in Manchester is an amazing place to visit along with lots of great outlets. Weston has the Vermont Country Store that is a nostalgic place to find items from the last century, "penny" candy, fudge, cheese, toys, books, etc.
Snow shoeing or cross country skiing on property and we are very close to three ski areas (Stratton, Magic Mountain, and Bromley).
Three night minimum. We ask that you put rinsed dishes in the dishwasher. Shoes off in the cottage. Any garbage in the container under the sink. Use towels sparingly. We would expect you to treat this special place with care and respect. Arrival after 3:00 and departure before 11:00.

I am a composer / producer and forensic musicologist. My husband, Jim, having spent a career on Wall Street, now offers his wisdom to several non-profit boards. We split our time between our Vermont farm and New York City. I love hiking, riding our horses, snow-shoeing, nature, photography, animals. My husband loves tennis and hiking. We both love reading - especially aloud to each other. In the last year, I completed a book, Learning History Through Music for grades K-8 and also released a children's book with painter Kimberley Ray entitled "Goodnight My Honey Bunnies" including a free downloadable lullaby album. We converted and renovated the large barn on our property with loving care and attention to detail and made it into our main house. We have loved living here for over thirty years and want to share this most incredible experience with other like-minded people.
