Live in the center of an ancient village in the southern French wine country. All village amenities are within a few steps from your front door. Great for swimming, hiking, and wine-tasting. For full details, see (URL HIDDEN)
Like most houses inside the old city wall, this one is taller than it is wide. The house fronts on a pedestrian street (too narrow for cars to pass); at the back of the house is a small, stone-walled garden. The house has four levels. At the ground level is a laundry and storage room with a bathroom, clothes washer and dryer, and storage space. One floor up is the main living level, with kitchen/dining space looking onto the street and the living room, opening directly onto the garden, making meals outdoors irresistible in warm weather. The floor above consists of the master bedroom, with a double bed and a view on the garden, the upstairs bathroom, and a small children's bedroom with a bunk bed. The top level (once a hayloft) is a single space that serves as a bedroom (one double bed) and study with bookshelves and workspaces. From this upstairs loft/bedroom one steps directly onto the roof terrace, with its expansive view of the village, the surrounding vineyards, and hills and mountains beyond.
All of the house except a locked rear basement is available for the enjoyment of visitors.
One can live without a car in Aniane, shopping in the local shops and at the weekly Thursday open market, and enjoying the restaurants and cafes in the village.
