The apartment was great - in good repair, clean, good location, no complaints. It was nice to have air conditioning in every bedroom! One minor issue with the listing: it says there is a washer and dryer. There is a washer, but we did not see a dryer. Maybe we missed it.
The reason for just three stars is the communication. The owner's communication started off great; he answered a few questions about the area for us very promptly. However, we had a VERY difficult time finding out the specific location of the apartment, which obviously is very important information to have. Prior to my family's arrival in Guayaquil, we had received four communications purporting to state the apartment's location: a map showing it in the middle of a park, a map showing it on a street with a similar-but-different name (which the owner actually told us was the correct street), a cryptic address that consisted of just the ciudadela and a number, and a message from the owner stating a landmark that it was by. I did not receive correct directions to the apartment until nearly two hours after our arrival in Guayaquil. By then, we had spent a lot of money on taxis as they drove us around the general area trying to help us find the place, and we also tried walking around the area, which was very unsettling as we were with our young children in an unfamiliar part of the city as it was starting to get dark. We were just about to give up and check into a nearby hotel when the owner finally contacted us with specific directions. (We had contacted the owner several times during the days preceding our arrival through what he told us was his preferred method of communication--(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)--to ask about the location, but he did not respond. In his defense, he later told us that he did not see our messages, and he apologized to us.)
All in all, I would stay at the apartment again. It is a really nice apartment. The miscommunications, though very inconvenient and frustrating, should be easy to correct, and based on what I have observed with the owner, I think they were honest mistakes and I suspect he will correct them soon (if not already).
