La Belle Vie properties presents ' La Vie en Bleu' a romantic apartment is in a converted Victorian villa on the seafront in Bognor Regis; light spacious, tastefully decorated with quirky vintage touches.
La vie en Bleu
It is difficult to find the direct translation of ‘La vie en Bleu’. To the French it means to be a dreamer, to stare into the infinity of blue skies and breaking waves. For petrol heads it refers to Bugatti vintage car racing.
What better name for an apartment with endless views of sky and sea just a few miles from the Goodwood Revival and festivals of speed?!
The Victorian Villa itself:
This apartment could not be closer to the beach. In fact it’s impossible not to be drawn to the view from the huge arched windows. When the spring tides are in you could almost be on a boat. On hazy summer days the coastline of Pagham and Selsey dissolves into the horizon while in the foreground yachts glide past.
The living area is spacious with high ceilings, ornate coving and chandeliers. There are two sofas- a squishy extra large feather sofa, and a leather Art Deco sofa bed. There’s a TV, DVD player and a fireplace (electric flame effect)
The table and chairs easily accommodate 6 for dining.
The kitchen has everything you could need; microwave, oven, dishwasher, full sized fridge-freezer, plenty of storage space; small breakfast bar.Please note that this is a self-catering apartment. Tea, coffee, sugar and basic cleaning items are provided but not meals.
The master bedroom has a king-size quirky vintage bed (with new divan base and mattress), a 1950’s dressing table and an antique wardrobe with plenty of hanging space.
The twin bedroom has a pair of luxury Hasten beds.
There is a Z bed which increased capacity to 7 and a pop up cot.
The bathroom is spacious with both tub and shower.
Convenience and safety:
There is a combination boiler with constant hot water. There is superfast BT fibre broadband. The apartment has a gas safety certificate and electrical certificate. Green and clean electricity is provided by Octopus- the UK’s largest investor British solar energy and wind farms. There are fire alarms, smoke alarms, a CO alarm, a first aid kit and a manual on how to work the white goods is left in the house. There is a key master safe so you can check in at any time.
A good nights sleep…
All the bed linen is refreshly laundered 100% cotton. The feather pillows and duvets are of the highest quality and the same as those supplied to 5 star London hotels. They are 'Nomite' so even those who suffer from house dust allergies or asthma can enjoy their comfort. In addition 'Downafresh' guarantee that they comply with strict hygiene requirements and all laws relating to animal welfare and ethics.
Instead of the usual thin mattress, there is a bespoke mattress for the sofa bed. Too thick to fold into the mechanism it insures a comfortable nights sleep in return for the small inconvenience of storage in the walk-in larder.
A booster seat, bed rails and a pushchair are also available on request.
There is free parking in the road outside and in the municipal carpets (free in low season)
Outside the villa is a narrow road. On the other side of this is the fenced lawn area for use by the residents. It’s a place for children to play safely or to take a picnic to nibble while you sunbathe; feel free to use picnic basket, blankets etc. provided for use. There is direct access to the promenade and the beach.
In high season the glories of the Great British seaside await with miniature trains, ice creams and the promenade for a stroll or cycle ride. Outside high season there is nothing like a walk along the promenade, watching the waves and breathing in fresh salty air to blow away the cobwebs. The yacht club, immediately next door, runs classes all year.
A Tesco express is just around the corner along with a choice of restaurants and cafes.
It is about 5-10 minutes walk to Bognor Regis pier and town. Bognor Regis itself has a number of restaurants, cafes and shops. Once a favoured Royal holiday destination Bognor Regis has a faded grandeur: an old fashioned vibe which can be considered either quaint, or leaning towards shabby (largely depending on the weather!). There is an excellent family run café next to the pier for a cracking British breakfast and great coffee.
Close by are Sussex villages waiting to be explored. Try visiting Chichester, a bustling historic town with Roman origins boasting theatres, restaurants, and shops. Or Bosham - a delightful ancient village on a tidal creek, the Witterings for sand and arty seascape photographs, Goodwood is a short drive for vintage cars, horse races or Cowdray for polo…further afield lie Brighton, Portsmouth.
Transport links and parking:
Bognor Regis is easily accessed by car or direct trains from London Victoria. There is an excellent network of coastal buses also available.
Parking is available outside the villa on the road on a first come first served basis. Municipal parking is available close by. This is free in low season.
Some other considerations;
As an old villa this house does not have modern sound proofing technology and sound can travel through the building. In order to avoid being a nuisance to other residents clients are kindly asked to remove their shoes when in the apartment and be sensitive to the noise being made particularly late in the evening and first thing in the morning. For this reason it is not suitable for hen or stag parties.
The villa is about 5-10 minutes walk from Bognor Regis town and therefore in a quiet location.
Pets are accepted as long as they are not allowed onto the beds or furniture or left alone in the apartment but please enquire before booking.
The apartment is looked after by a wonderful team who are on hand should you require any assistance during your stay.
Its an old house so noise tends to travel. Please remove shoes when in the apartment and try to keep noise down later in the evening and in the morning.
Please do not smoke.
Please ask me before booking if you would like to bring your dog. Well behaved dogs are allowed provided that they are not to be left alone in the apartment at any time, not allowed on the furniture especially the beds, and not to be allowed in the apartment unless they are clean. Thank you :-)
