A charming two-bedroom Mediterranean Villa filled with light and sun, surrounded with flowers and with exceptional view of the Sierras. A rare opportunity to enjoy a Provence lifestyle for however long you wish. A most welcoming and peaceful heaven.
See below for more information on what Oregon House has to offer.
Entering the property through a graceful cast iron gate, you immediately feel at home in this secluded spot. What will capture you first: the breathtaking views of the Foothills and snowy peaks of Tahoe, or the lovely garden boasting roses, and a variety of flowers, or the house so ideally situated?
Terraces bordered with seasonal lavender, peonies, and jasmine surround the house. The wisteria-covered pergola is a favorite spot for breakfast, lunch, or a glass of wine at leisure. Other more intimate corners may hold a special appeal for you.
Entering the house, beautifully furnished with French Country antiques, is stepping into a warm and welcoming Provencal home, with high ceilings and hardwood floor throughout. The large dining /living room is filled with light, captured through five French doors, three of which open onto the front terrace with a panoramic view of the Sierras. A central hallway leads to both bedrooms, the master bedroom and master bath on one side, and the guest room and bath on the other. Both charming, each with their own, unique view of the gardens.
The kitchen overlooking the garden is fully equipped and opens directly onto the dining area.
You will enjoy the privacy of a quiet, lovely neighborhood.
Oregon House and near by adventures: At an elevation of 2100’ the small and unassuming town of Oregon House is above the fog and below the snow. It’s extremely quiet, safe, and the air is fresh and clean. Close to several lakes and forests for swimming or hikes. Fishing, boating and swimming are popular at Collin’s Lake, Lake Francis, or Englebright Reservoir. For the morea adventurous there is also river swimming in the Yuba River and Oregon Creek, less than an hour away. Nevada City, a charming gold-mining town, is just 45 minutes away and if you go the ‘back road’, you’ll see amazing scenery, driving by the Bullards Bar Reservoir and meeting the famous Route 49. For a real outing, you can explore Downieville (dive into the Gold Rush history) and the lovely lakes (Sardine Lake, Salmon Lake, Gold lake) where you can swim or hike forever… The area is chock-full of resources: from wineries making great wines, beekeepers producing fragrant honey, olive oil mills... Discovering the rest we leave up to you! More detailed information in the House green binder.

The house and grounds are your private space during your visit but if, for any reason, it is necessary to check something for safety, security or wellbeing, we will ask your permission to enter.
There are 2 outside cats, Ebony and Honey who are not allowed in the house and they know it. Colette comes to feed them daily or you may prefer to feed and give them water: the food is provided.
I will be available to help you throughout your stay; please ask if you would like suggestions for outings or need help in any way.
Water conservation is needed, no long showers etc.
Welcome to any foods in the kitchen, teas in the drawer next to the dishwasher and coffee in the freezer, local olive oil etc..
Truly Provencal, in that there are no insect screens on the French doors, windows have screens. The climate is sunny and dry, so bring protection and stay well hydrated.
You are welcome to pick some flowers to enjoy in the vases in the house.
The lavender is flowering and you can pick from the down hill side so as to keep the full impression from the patio. Clippers in the kitchen.

I am French, I was born in the City of Bordeaux and i love wine. Apart from France I have lived in Italy, England, Scotland, and the US for the past 27 years, 20 of which in this beautiful part of the world. I still love to travel to Europe every year but happy to come home to this peaceful and friendly spot.
There are 2 houses on my Property, one of which is permanently rented, the other welcomes me whenever I want to be Home. Every one who comes into it tells me that it is most beautiful, I think so of course. I love growing flowers and have a colorful garden. Bees and birds love it too. Opening the curtains in the morning I look out on a vast landscape. The air is so pure and the silence is soothing. When I work in the garden the 2 outside cats come and lie by my side and we enjoy each others presence, the singing of birds, the hum of the bees.
There is so much to do here if you enjoy the outdoor. So many beautiful things to discover and enjoy. Apart from working in my garden and going for long walks I also enjoy in doors activities : reading, meditating, listening to music, yoga and watching movies with Roku on my TV Set.
I have many wonderful friends and I hope you make some too when you come to stay.
