I describe my space as a sanctuary in the city. It is an eclectic mix of Art Deco & African style nestling in a virtual forest.
The house is situated in one of Joburg’s older, treed suburbs in a quiet secure street where all the neighbours know and look out for each other. The house is elderly and colourful and somewhat eccentric, with pressed steel ceilings and wooden floors that sometimes creak. It is quirky but clean & comfortable. There is a wide verandah overlooking the lawn. and a large swimming pool. The property is home to a dog and a cat , a flock of guinea fowl, a peahen and a variety of wild birds. It is a restorative, quiet and gentle place and ideally, but not exclusively, suited to single women travelling alone.
There is a ceramics art gallery with ever changing exhibitions and from time to time, I host musical soirees in the garden featuring a variety of local artists.
There is a private bathroom opposite the bedroom but not en suite. If there are guests occupying both bedrooms, the bathroom would be shared.
You will have access to the verandah, the sitting room, kitchen and pool and you can make use of the laundry.
As I work from home, I am available to help, advise, guide wherever possible.
We are often subjected to load shedding, so its important to know where candles are placed for easy access. There is a gas hob.
Breakfast is a help your self from the kitchen & wash up afterwards affair.
No smoking in the house or on the verandah.
I am vegetarian and would ask that you are mindful of that.
I recycle and request waste is disposed in correct bins.
