When you come to The John Tyler House, you'll be transported back to 1710! A perfect example of an American Colonial, the house offers three rooms for 2 guests per room. two of the rooms are very large with a sitting area and face the street, one room is in the back of the house and features a cozy bathtub!
The house has comfy sitting rooms with tons of books and fireplaces and old Colonial kitchens with hanging pots and a farm table to eat on or catch up on some work.
We offer a large American (well sometimes French or Italian) breakfast as well which may be cooked on an 10 foot wide fireplace complete with a working beehive oven! And of course, a complimentary cocktail hour upon your arrival,
I am a weaver, spinner and textile craftsman. My studio is a part of the large dining room. You can see the process up close and even participate if you want!
It's a perfect place to relax and get away from the city!!
To almost all of the house.

After having lived in NYC for over 15 years, I came to Branford, CT to live in the Tyler House. It's 300 years old (1710) and I'm really excited about living here and sharing it with others who love old houses! I speak several languages and run a company called 'The Language Chef' which combines food and foriegn languages. The house will soon have a shop and possibly a small cafe. Looking forward to seeing you in Branford!
