A true country get-away, this unique guest house started life as a real barn in 1880. Today, it's a comfortable, sunny, immaculate home with an open floor plan, massive decks, and furnished with antiques. Surrounded by meadows and woodlands. Pets ok.
The Barn House is a unique get-away. Hardwood floors, knotty-pine interiors, cathedral ceilings, furnished with antiques and heirlooms, this unique home is situated next to a year-round creek. Massive decks run the length of the barn with a barbeque and seating/dining areas overlooking the creek. The open floor plan features a well-equipped kitchen (full-size appliances), a dining alcove with full-size dining table, conversation areas, and a rustic fireplace crafted from stones gathered from the property. Guests are likely to see more wildlife than cars passing on the paved road that meanders past the property.
Guests have full access to the Barn House and to the 50-acre Stonewall Ranch, which abuts the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. The area is great for hiking and mountain biking, or just sitting by the creek with a good book. There is a picnic area by the creek just up the road. Whenever possible, we allow early check-in and late check-out, depending upon other bookings.
We live just 1/4 mile up the road and are available during your visit should you have questions or need anything. We're happy to greet guests upon arrival, show them around, and get them settled when the guests arrive before 6 p.m. After 6 p.m., keys are left for the arriving guests.
This is a true country location for people who wish to get away from it all. The closest town, Redding, is about a 25-minute drive. There is a small general store in the local village, but no gasoline, restaurants or nightlife. Satellite internet connection is available as is a VOIP telephone. Cell service is limited.
There is no smoking inside the Barn House (e-cigarettes and vapes are okay), but guests may smoke on the back deck away from open doors or windows. No open flames are allowed anywhere on the property. Well-behaved pets are welcome, but are not allowed on the furniture and may not be left alone on the property. The property is expected to be left in the same condition as when the guests arrived.
We love sharing our small woodland ranch with guests and their well-behaved pets. Stonewall Ranch is truly a special place. Denise renovated the oldest barn in Shasta County into the comfortable guest house that we call The Barn House at Stonewall Ranch. Rustic on the outside, the interior features an open floor plan on two levels, with hardwood floors, knotty-pine paneling and cathedral ceilings. Furnished with antiques and heirlooms, the Barn House is a unique retreat for those who truly want to get away from it all. You'll fall asleep listening to a gentle brook at the end of the meadow and awake to the sounds of birds. You'll see more wildlife than cars passing by on the country lane.
We travel with our dogs, so we understand how difficult it can be to find trustworthy pet sitters. Well-behaved pets are welcome at the Barn House for a small additional fee ($10/pet/night). Pets are not allowed on the furniture and may not be left alone in their owner's absence.
We're usually on hand to greet our guests and show them around, and we're just 1/4 mile up the road should you need anything.
We know how hard it can be to leave a place as beautiful as this, so we've established an "at-your-leisure" check-out policy (just let us know if you'll be staying late on your last day and you're welcome to check out anytime before dark).
