'Clovelly Cottage' in charming Akaroa is a perfect blend of old-world charm providing modern facilities and extreme comfort. Set 8 minutes' walk back from the beach front, the cottage is set in a beautiful garden which offers peace and bird song.
I am a warm and friendly hostess who for the last 15 years has enjoyed providing superior accommodation to guests from New Zealand and from many overseas countries. Ensuring my guests feel relaxed and 'at home' in Clovelly Cottage is my top priority. Art, theatre and music are my favourite interests (I have a grand piano and enjoy having guests play it), reading, writing, current affairs, overseas travel, cooking, films, farming, gardening and dogs. I have been a registered breeder of English Cocker Spaniels and more recently an unregistered breeder of Jack Russells. Formerly a farmer's wife, I continue to be interested in country life. My three adult children are happily married and have given me nine grandchildren - all gorgeous!
Trained as a secretary in my youth, in two separate stints I have spent 20 years employed by the University of Canterbury, first as P/A to the head of Zoology and finally as P/A to the head of Journalism.
"Clovelly Cottage" is named after the picturesque seaside village on England's North Devon Coast. My mother was born in Clovelly and my Kiwi father while on his OE in 1931 met her in her father's art-store in that village. The rest is history.....
Do I have 'a life motto'? How about, "Laughter is the world's best medicine"?
