This place is truly a hidden gem, spacious, comfortable, beautiful, and with a gorgeous semi-private beach that makes it a perfect location for a holiday escapade. Relatively easy to access and far enough from the town for peaceful nights hearing only the rumor of the waves. The only things I’d say this place lacks is a microwave oven and slightly better internet speed (there’s wifi, but it’s not fast enough for activities like a facetime call or video watching).
Eduardo and Miriam, who helped us during our stay are amazing people, kind, welcoming, and so well connected to the town and their people that will make your stay a thousand times better, since they can help you with useful stuff like with buying ingredients for a great seafood dinner for dirt cheap, directions for must-visit places around and many other great amenities (I absolutely recommend to ask them for a massage therapist that will come and give you a massage right next to the beach, it’s pretty much a luxury spa experience at a fraction of the price).
Tolu, despite being a major tourist spot, still has the charm of a small fisherman’s village. It’s close enough to other picturesque places around the Morrosquillo gulf and has plenty of beautiful sights itself. If you want to see fishermen throwing hand-made nets to the sea at dawn, kids playing at the beach without any care in the world, loud parties around downtown with people dancing on the streets and the kind of sights that inspired Garcia Marquez to write about Macondo, Manuel’s cabin is your place!
