The Parlor is on the First Floor, making it more accessible. It’s spacious and is decorated in cheerful yellows, blues and raspberry, with an old-fashioned, yet up to date feel. The King bed can be divided into Twins ($25 extra) and if the sofa bed isn’t needed in the second room, guests then have a sitting room. If just 2 people use the room, the rate is $160 + tax per night, in season. Sea breezes flow through, so there’s no AC; but - we do have fans if needed.
Our guests can hang out in the SunRoom - where we serve breakfast - and can store food in 'fridges there, cook in our kitchen, and access WIFI, too.
The surrounding gardens are there to be roamed; people have been known to pick our berries - yes, please! Some plants are for sale - others are free (phlox!).
Our heated, indoor pool is a wonderful place to relax and unwind; bathing suits, please. . .
We are here for you. If we're not here (on our own vacation) someone else will be. We all know the area well and have lots of recommendations for restaurants, boat trips, kid stuff... you name it! We have beach chairs, umbrellas, popup beach "tents" and toys, balls, games. But NO bicycles to rent here - sorry. Kayaks & bikes rentable nearby.
We’re here both to interact and/or leave others their privacy. We’re busy with our farming, as well as the B&B, and are very are happy to share gardening tips and information.
Our Sun Room is set up so that guests can gather at big tables or have their own small tables. Sometimes we sit down to share breakfast with our guests. We have a new piano there, too, and hope that guests will take advantage of it if they’d like; it’s in tune!
Our 1800's farm used to produce hard cider. In 2015 we pressed our first batch of the sweet, delicious drink - it was the BEST APPLE YEAR EVER! We grow all kinds of produce here, serve much of it for breakfast. Our food, rooms, pool, sandy beaches, the area = AMAZING!
So, it's great, old-fashioned Maine on this peninsula and our beaches are well-kept secrets. At night, you can see the stars & Milky Way clearly: bring your telescopes - someone did last year and was thrilled with what he could see: even found a new (to him) galaxy and nebulae. Starry, starry nights and. . . Butterflies, fireflies, birds. . . And -
we offer both individual rooms and whole house rentals almost the entire year. Also, from Jan. - April, enjoy "Artists' Retreats": week-long stays @ reduced rates: $200pp/$300 couple - per week; BYO food.
We’re a B&B and a family-friendly place. We hope that all of our guests will respect others' right to a nice, relaxing vacation: without loud music; NO smoking (not allowed on the grounds); no late, noisy arrivals; and limited cell phone conversations in publicly shared areas. Note: We ask that business be done away from the breakfast table and after people leave that area; we have nice, big lawns where people can roam & talk.
Pets are welcome; there's a $25 charge for a short stay; you must have a crate or bed, flea application and a leash - as loose dogs are illegal in ME (deer). NO PETS ON BEDS! Dogs, also, can ONLY be at Popham Beach State Park from 10/1 - 3/31 (nesting birds, poop, bites!); that's Fall & Winter. Dogs must be leashed there. (Horses are allowed, too, at Popham Bch St Pk, same time frame.) Dogs aren't allowed on Morse Mtn but are on Hermit Island - off season (Oct - May). There's a riverside beach in the town of Popham (past the state park) that allows dogs (leashed) - anytime; they can go in the water there, too! Owner poop pickup - in all locations - and here, too - allows others to bring their dogs in the future.
Finally, NO SMOKING, anywhere on the grounds; it's also not allowed at Popham Beach State Park.
We have run our B&B for 20 years! Can't believe it. We've hosted many repeat guests and are always happy to meet new travelers from all over the world. We love to garden (good thing: we've got many, of all types), love to help our interns learn all about growing things, love the nearby beaches ( 3 huge ones), nature (birds, flowers, critters), movies, music, dancing, reading, live theater; and are former athletes who have enjoyed skiing, tennis, and swimming. (Our indoor pool is great for laps & relaxation.) We're teachers, grandparents (have 7 grandkids), entrepreneurs and are hoping to start traveling more. Carol is a director, artist/crafts person, writer; Bill is a trail blazer & philosopher; both are Master Gardeners. We moved to Maine for the peace and quiet, starry, starry nights and the great outdoors. We love our life here!
