Situated on the east coast of the Cotentin peninsula in Lower Normandy, St. Vaast-la-Hougue is an active fishing port and popular tourist destination. The surrounding coastal waters are home to Normandy’s best-known oyster farms. Fine beaches and historic monuments dot the local coastline.
St. Vaast’s main street contains a variety of shops and restaurants, including the finest luxury grocery store in all of Normandy, with probably the best wine cellar west of Paris.
Our house overlooks the town’s busy port, where fishermen repair their nets and unload their daily catch, and where sailboats come and go with the tides.
The house, which sleeps 10 people comfortably, has four stories—a two-car garage on the ground floor; living room, dining room and kitchen with terrace overlooking the garden on the 2nd floor; three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the 3rd floor; and a separate apartment with bathroom on the top floor, whose windows offer the best coastal views in the entire town.
Tour the region by bike. The garage contains several bicycles for guest use.
