We are near historic downtown Guadalupe, the Dunes Center, Cultural Center, and restaurants. Half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco; great location for Central Coast wine tasting, spas, and nature lovers. This room has two twin beds.
Our home is a 3 bedroom Queen Ann Cottage Victorian. Built in 1900, it was constructed almost entirely of redwood. The 12' ceilings and architectural details are lovely. We are located a short walk from downtown Guadalupe, the Dune Center, Historical Society, and some of the best Mexican restaurants on the Coast. Guadalupe is a good, central location to visit north Santa Barbara and south San Luis Obispo counties, since it sits right on the border of both counties.
A word about Guadalupe – I am a native Southern Californian (my grandparents arrived in the 1880's.) If you want to experience California as it was when we were an agricultural society of small, close-knit towns, Guadalupe is probably one of the last places left in Southern and Central Coast California for you to visit. It is quiet and laid back and the Central Coast's best kept secret. The residents are so nice, you'll feel very welcomed. Like farm towns everywhere, however, it gets very quiet in the evening. But not to worry, there are restaurants, wineries, spas, playhouses, and movie theaters nearby.
Two bedrooms are available in our home - this posting is for the bedroom with 2 twin beds. The kitchen, dining room, and living room are available for guests. Our garden is under restoration but you can sit on the deck any time.
Available for guests are:
•Breakfast of yogurt, cereal, toast and fruit. Coffee and tea are always available.
•Kitchen appliances, pots and pans, basic cooking needs, utensils, plates and glasses, including refrigerator are available for guest's use. There is an outdoor BBQ that can be available as well.
•Board games and shared TV.
•Clean bed linens, bath towels, shampoo, and soap.
•Full bath with tub and shower is shared by guests.
* Though most guests consider Zani the cat an amenity, if you have allergies our home is probably not a good fit for you.
We are “on call" to help make your trip as enjoyable as possible. We love traveling and meeting fellow travelers. We also love Guadalupe, the Central Coast, Los Angeles, Southern California, and all of California. We know a lot about them all and would be delighted to share our favorite activities, places, restaurants, and fun things to do which we locals know all about. In addition, one of us is a bird watcher and can share her favorite birding spots with you. We are also good at respecting your privacy.
The house is arranged so that the two guest bedrooms are on the west side of the house, with living and dining room in between the owner's rooms on the east side. The full bathroom will be shared by guests but the owner's bath is separate. This offers a good deal of privacy.
* Check-in is negotiable. We will hold your luggage with prior arrangement.
* Check-out can be negotiable.
* No parties
* Zane the cat lives here. If you have cat allergies, our home will not be a good fit for you.
* Parking - There is plenty of safe street parking in front of the house. As with anywhere in California, however, never leave valuables where they can be seen in the car. Also to my foreign guests - ALWAYS park in the direction of traffic or the Guadalupe Police Department will give you a ticket.
* There is a secure but unprotected place for your bikes.
* Smoking allowed outside in designated areas.
* No parties.

We're pretty nice people; a retired phone company employee and a legislative policy consultant for a nonprofit AIDS health provider. We like reading, cooking, eating, politics, movies, birding,traveling, art, stuff like that. Our Spanish no es fluido pero no es malo, our French is très peu, and anything else is hand gestures.
