Romantic and spacious 1 BR Lyons home on acreage. Vaulted ceilings, INCREDIBLE VIEWS & privacy. Huge deck, mega stars at night. Great kitchen! **Not a party house** 40 minute drive to downtown Boulder, 35 minute drive to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.

Lyons--Spacious, romantic one bedroom home with soaring ceilings on 15 acres of privacy at 6400' elevation. Huge deck with a patio set/outdoor eating for two. 1340 sq.ft. total indoors, but note that AirBnB's photographer used a wide angle lens that makes the house look huge inside. BRIGHT and uplifting with soaring 20' ceilings. Lots of privacy at the end of a dirt mountain road.

Spacious kitchen with good cookware, seasonings, oils and condiments. Comfortable queen mattress, W/D. Wireless broadband and *Outgoing-only* phone land line. Some cell phones make and receive calls via wifi, so only you know that. Without wifi calling there's always Sk ype, Whats App and FaceTime. TV and DVD player for films and some over-the-air TV reception. No cable and no bbq.

Great area around Lyons for hiking (trails closer to town and beyond), rock climbing, mountain biking, white-water kayaking. Live music some nights in the town, home of Oskar Blues and Planet Bluegrass as well as an antique store and a couple of very small grocery stores, one with deli takeout food and great sandwiches. We have two great coffee cafes. There is live music at the Stone Cup Cafe on some weekend days. For other meals there are Smoking Dave's BBQ, Julie's Thai, Mojo Taqueria,, Mariposa Mexican restaurant, the Lyons Fork and Farmer Girl with local organic produce.

There is live music in Sandstone Park most Thursday nights in summer.

Resource list at the house will include massage therapists. Let us know before your arrival if you need those names early in order to schedule app'ts.

40 minutes drive to Boulder or Estes Park/Rocky Mountain National Park. It's 8 miles to the town of Lyons. Onsite notes will detail your options for great food and treats. E.g., we have the yummy Buttonrock Bakery that will surprise you. NO substitutes for real cream there!

This place is fabulous for those folks seeking a quiet getaway. This is not a party house. It is our own home that we love to share when we travel occasionally. Sorry, but no one-night rentals, smoking or pets at any time of year anymore. Because of our own occupancy of the home, it's not suitable for those with dog allergies.

We rent only to those who will honor our fragrance-free environment--no perfume, smoking, incense or chemicals, all of which can linger into the next guest's stay or our own use of the house. Thank you!
We allow children, but in this environment they need very close supervision. Outlets are not plugged, nor are there any other child-safety features in place. A toy flushed down the toilet may cost a guest dearly$ if it blocks anything in the septic system. It's relative wilderness outdoors with beautiful steep rocks and wildlife around that you may never even see, so choose carefully with regard to children with appropriate behavior. You assume all such risk.

NOTE: Sadly, we had our first-ever poor experience with Airbnb guests in spring 2017, so if you read that bad review be sure to read our response and the great review of the guests who stayed four days immediately before them, as well as the other great reviews. We haven't rented on this site since that unpleasant experience. Most importantly, know that we've had the gas company do a full safety check-up since then and all is well.

PLEASE BE SURE TO PRINT the excellent detailed driving directions from here on the site, once your reservation is confirmed. They include the door entry code and wifi PW. There's no cell service at the house or on the drive up the mountain, but there is outgoing land line phone service and Wi-Fi in the house. Sometimes we get to meet our guests on arrival and sometimes we're gone before they arrive. Thank you!

We are not on site when guests are renting the house, though we will often get to meet at your arrival. Neighbors keep an eye on the place.

There's no cell service while driving up the mountain, so you must have those printed directions with you. Do not try to map it online, which can be inaccurate in rural areas.

Please bear with me here, as many folks have little to no experience with living on a septic system and on a well for water.

This is not a party house. Great neighbors below, just down the road keep their eyes open. It's a fragrance-free home, so no perfume, incense, cologne, smoking or chemicals.

* Important * Please read the following carefully. Thank you for respecting our pristine environment!

The house is on septic so be sure to share with your travel partner/spouse that only toilet paper and what's previously been eaten can be flushed. No Kleenex, hair, condoms or feminine care products can be flushed. No oil, grease, bones or other food waste down drains or over the edge of the deck where wildlife or my own dog can ingest it and get sick or worse.

The house is on a water well, so nothing toxic can be poured out on the ground OR into the drains or it will wind up poisoning the water table.

AWD, 4WD or studded tires are recommended for all but summer months, as it's a dirt mountain road and it's unpredictable Colorado! I live here with only a front wheel drive car and in winter, good studded tires, but occasionally conditions are a bit much for 2WD.

Instructions will be left on the counter for the watering of the few houseplants. It only takes a few minutes every few days, but must be done by guests. Thank you, and the plants thank you!

Centrally located between Boulder and Rocky Mountain National Park, Cheri's place was perfect for our stay. We enjoyed great food and shopping in Boulder and some spectacular hikes in RMNP and Brainard Park. Cheri's home has spectacular, breathtaking views of the mountains so we also thoroughly enjoyed our downtime at her house as well. Cheri was very hospitable. She met us at her home when we arrived, showed us around her home, and gave us some tips for sight seeing. Would love to go back!

The views are absolutely endless off the back porch, pretty far off the main road but the views make everything so worth it. Cheri was great at communicating and the her home was nice. Overall great town and great stay.

We believe Cheri is well aware that the pictures and written description on the listing do not reflect the actual condition of the home. The house is under renovation throughout. The kitchen is not a gourmet kitchen. There are 2 pages of instructions on the counter for living with all of the quirks and half finished projects that are not included in the description of the property on line. There is a persistent odor of propane. There is an active mouse family in the house. Lighting is a mixed bag of tables lamps scattered thru out and a florescent tube on the kitchen counter. We have never rented a house that was someone's home and not an actual rental home, so not having space for our own food in the kitchen or our belongings in the bedroom and bathroom made things difficult and unpleasant. It was also difficult to navigate around all of the personal items. Because we had to eat out the entire 4 days we found that The Stone Cup makes marvelous breakfast burritos and that Julie's Thai Kitchen is most excellent.

I am truly surprised and deeply saddened by this review for so many reasons, not the least of which is that these guests never communicated with me. I messaged to say "Welcome," then three days later to see if they needed anything. No reply to those and no reply to my message after my return. Then this review. Here is the full review by the professional couple who left on May 9, the day before these guests arrived on May 10. "The house and setting are spectacular. Huge deck and gorgeous panoramic view, exactly like the pictures. The house is smaller, as stated in the pictures, but perfect. Great town of Lyons has everything you could need. Cheri is very accommodating and warm. I wish I would have been able to meet her. Highly recommended." Great care to provide a positive environment for all my guests is taken, as my description of what I offer is clear. The house is 1340 SF. A quote from the couple who wrote the poor review, "We have never rented a house that was someone's home and not an actual rental home..." It is indeed my own home and as such the bookcases are filled with a wonderful lifetime collection of books that guests are welcome to enjoy. Two-thirds of the spotless refrigerator was available for guest use, as was the upper basket of the freezer. Condiments, oils, etc. are for guest use. The only thing not working in the kitchen is one of the two ovens. The good oven is large enough to cook a medium-size turkey. I dont' know if something was hung over the boiler air intake, but even with testing no leak has been found. I can't comprehend why I never got a call or message for five days if they had such a concern. There are smoke detectors and carbon monoxide monitors on both floors. There are two side-by-side 7' closets in the bedroom and one of those is empty, with 18 or 20 hangers and three shelves for guest use. Only the up-high shelf is filled with linens and extra pillows and blankets. The two pages of notes I leave guests explain in detail everything from airwaves-only TV reception(as my property listing states), It goes on to say where flashlights are in case of a power outage(common sense to have this info in the mountains). There's a whole paragraph about the closest hospital and urgent care centers, three paragraphs about my favorite local hiking trails and restaurants, a paragraph with necessary info about living with a septic system, as with all rural properties that many people are unfamiliar with, a paragraph about how to clean the long-time-seasoned wonderful cast iron skillets that would be ruined by long soaking or scrubbing with a stainless pad. I could of course put those skillets away with my personal effects while guests are here, but I want my guests to be able to enjoy them. There's a paragraph about weather patterns and what to open to get the best airflow through the house at night in summer, as well as a caveat to not leave personal effects on the deck and go away, as winds come up suddenly on occasion. ***This house is in the mountains and I'm sharing what I've learned over the years to save my guests from losses.*** We all learn these things about our homes from years of living in them and my guests are usually happy to have this information. Some of my guests have never stayed in a wilder mountain environment before or lived on a property with a septic system. It's true that I have trapped three mice since returning two weeks ago. Soon enough there will be new reviews available for perspective. The house is only rented when I go out of town. Blessings, Cheri

The house and setting are spectacular. Huge deck and gorgeous panoramic view, exactly like the pictures. The house is smaller, as stated in the pictures, but perfect. Great town of Lyons has everything you could need. Cheri is very accommodating and warm. I wish I would have been able to meet her. Highly recommended.

The view from the home is exactly as seen in the listing! The deck has an amazing view of the area and is breath taking. Most of my time was spent out on the deck admiring the view, fresh air, and peace & quiet.
