This mid-century master bedroom has 2 full beds and private bathroom and closet. It provides the same comforts of a hotel room at a pinch of the cost. The beds comfortably fit 4 people and a floor mat is available for a 5th person. Since we only book one group at a time and we mostly keep to ourselves, many guests feel like they have the entire house to themselves!
The master bedroom has 2 full beds, and extra floor mat, and a private master bathroom and closet. Extra pillows, blankets, and beach towels are provided in the closet. The doorknob has a lock with keys to ensure your sense of privacy and security. We offer fast and free wifi. The password as well as hospital, grocery and restaurant recommendations are provided on a laminated piece of paper in your room.
We encourage you to enjoy the rest of the home as well! Store leftovers in the fridge, do a load of laundry (or ten!), cook up a storm in the kitchen, curl up with one of our books on the couch, play a board game at the dining room table, or jump in the pool for a swim!
Towels and shower essentials provided
Space heaters and A/C give you temperature control. It gets cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
Free tea and coffee
Parking in driveway for up to two of your cars. Street parking is also available (except for Mondays from 7-11AM)
There are little slips of white paper around the house to help you feel more at home. For instance, the one on the wall to the left of the stovetop offers instructions for how to turn the stove on/off and adjust the settings. We hope you'll find them helpful.
Our mid-century modern home has, over the years, been modified by previous owners to resemble a welcoming, albeit not-so-mid-century, interior. It's a little bit traditional, a little bit modern, and everything is kept safe and clean to make you feel right at home. Since we hope to renovate in about a year, we aren't currently investing money to fix minor imperfections. For example, you might notice that the air conditioner no longer has a cover or that the light switch in the dining room is missing it's dial knob, but that both work perfectly well. Please expect these occasional imperfections when booking.
You have direct access to the backyard through the master suite. The yard is a work-in-progress, but the pool is all yours! Our pool does not have a secure gate (the gate pops right open with just a little push) and guests are responsible for the safety of everyone in their party, especially little kids.
We mostly keep to ourselves, providing you with privacy. Our schedules are very different from our guests' and sometimes we won't have the fortune of crossing paths, especially if your stay here is a short one. But we are more than happy to help with anything and will respond to any inquiries or concerns you may have. Since a key code is provided for entering the house, you can expect a lot of independence while staying here. Please make yourselves totally at home!
We only book one group at a time so unless we are hosting personal guests, it's unlikely that you will meet anyone besides us.
Upon entering the house, you'll enter the atrium. It was meant to be an inner courtyard with an exposed ceiling to the open sky, but the previous owners enclosed it and made it another room in the house. It has no real function except to make you chuckle at the oddity of it. Just walk straight ahead across the atrium and enter through the glass sliding door into the main part of the house.
We have a very sweet dog who is shy and will, therefore, be kept out of the common areas. Many guests don't know we even have a dog because she is generally very quiet.
This house has multiple exterior windows and doors, and while the neighborhood is absolutely safe, we ask that you always lock any doors or windows that you've opened before you leave the house for the day.
The A/C can be a little loud but so far our guests haven't minded because it provides white noise while they sleep. For guests with more sensitive hearing, we provide ear plugs during the hot months when the A/C is more likely to be running.
While we spend what often feels like all day trying to keep a clean and tidy house, sometimes there are a few dishes in the sink or items for recycling stacked beside the kitchen trash. Please keep in mind that the house is lived in, and while we promise it will be clean and comfortable, you can expect to see signs of life here and there.
Lock the front door when coming and going, no exceptions. It can be tricky to align the latch, so please double check.
Always lock windows or exterior doors before leaving for the day/night.
Turn off space heater, A/C, fan, and coffee maker when leaving the house
No smoking inside or in front of house. Backyard only, please.
Please clean up common areas after use. Hand wash dishes and cookware after use and place in drying rack. We are happy to put them away once they dry.
Quiet time after 10:00pm

Hello and welcome. My name is Stephanie and I live with my husband, Dan, and our mutt, Coda.
I love comfort food and have been known to tear up over a good plate of spaghetti. I also love to read and offer a little library to all of our guests, ranging from classical and modern literature to popular fiction and business. (Just don't fight over the Harry Potter books). My husband and I also love to travel abroad. Our favorite destinations so far are the Amalfi coast in Italy, the glacial lakes in Lake Louise, Canada, and the castles of Northern England and Scotland. Within the U.S., we love the greenery and rainy weather of Oregon and Washington, the surf in Huntington Beach, and, of course, the exotic locale just 20 minutes down the road known as Disneyland.
I work from home as a writer, blogger, and editor, so my mutt and I largely keep to ourselves, providing you with privacy. However, I am more than happy to help and respond quickly to any inquiries you may have.
