Old quarry cottage overlooking the Derwent Valley on Duffield Bank. The cottage has beamed ceilings and old fireplace, circa 1870's. Perfect for a quiet weekend retreat, walking in the peaks or local countryside. Great pub nearby. Dogs welcome.
The cottage has a lounge, dining room, kitchen and two double bedrooms with comfortable beds, wardrobes, drawers and desk. Decoration is simple with original paintings. Radiator heating and double glazed. Room for Cot or extra trundle bed and room for Pet. There is a covered utility area at the rear perfect for washing down muddy boots and pets.
Breakfast - cereals, eggs, bread, tea or coffee provided.
Private car parking to rear. Sloped access and old paving so not suitable for wheelchair access. Also steep drops so not really suitable for children unsupervised.
I live and work locally just 5 mins away and have flexibility so can be on hand to help at any point.
This location is just north of Derby and suitable for anyone wishing to visit the town, but also very accessible to the Derbyshire Dales along the A6. It is in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site buffer zone. There are good footpaths locally also.
Bus stop on the A6 into Derby, and also to the TransPeak bus service. There is a good local train service from Duffield Station towards Matlock.
The car park is to the rear of the house and access is around to the front of Manor Cottage along a sloped stone path.
There are wooden steps and spiral staircase at the rear but these are not suitable in the dark or when carrying heavy loads. Also beware of head hights on the spiral staircase.
I'll be available for arrivals.
The property is located between two other houses, and although abutted with thick stone walls please try to respect neighbour's privacy and keep noise within respectable limits. There is a small terrace area to the front and I usually use this till 12pm on sunny days for BBQ's etc but reduce noise levels around 11pm.
Try to keep muddy feet out of carpeted areas of the house.
Friendly female who likes to meet new people and make sure they see the best of the area. Helpful when needed. I am a quiet person who lives quite basically. I enjoy reading, walking and country pubs. Well travelled and lived abroad for many years. Enjoy other cultures and meeting people from different backgrounds. Like most foods and wines. Love African countries.
I'm a fairly easy going person and enthusiastic when acting as a tour guide. I'll give you lots of tips for walking and seeing things. I have backpacked around in my youth and have met some wonderful people who have put me up and looked after me. I hope to repay that kindness. My profession is in landscape and I do a lot of designing so I see the beauty around me.
