From the sun-drenched roof terrace with uninterrupted views of the Nile, to the domed roof, cool interiors, beautifully appointed rooms, 5 bedrooms (all with bathrooms, 4 ensuite), this stunning riverbank villa must be seen to be believed.
Situated on the Nile, Riverbank House is a spacious, self-contained villa with Arabian style domes, arches and tiled floors throughout. Across three levels, it features five well-appointed bedrooms, each air-conditioned with its own bath/shower room. The ground floor features a reception room with satellite TV, substantial kitchen with Nespresso machine, one double bedroom and one twin, both with ensuite. There is also a utility area with washing machine. Up the stairs to the middle floor, the windows overlook the Nile and providing a gorgeous setting for our antique Ottoman-style dining table seating 10 and the comfortable and atmospheric sitting room. Additionally, there is another double bedroom with ensuite plus twin bedroom with ensuite on the middle floor. There is a further twin bedroom with bathroom on the top floor. Last but not least there is a private, sun-filled walled garden adjacent to the villa with a large 12 x 4 metre swimming pool, exclusively for you.
The piece de resistance is the roof terrace, perfect for a refreshing sun downer after a day of sightseeing. Or enjoy a shisha pipe of apple tobacco like the locals while you stargaze. From the roof terrace, you will look out across the Nile to the Winter Palace directly opposite and Luxor Temple on the East Bank. There are comfortable sun loungers if you feel like relaxing with a book or simply watching life on the river go by. There is an outdoor dining table seating 10 under a domed roof with ceiling fan and decorative shutters that can be modified depending on the weather – allowing for coolness to escape the heat of the day or breeze in the evening. The roof terrace is an ideal place to enjoy a traditional Egyptian breakfast of fresh falafel, feta, tomatoes, cucumber, bread, yoghurt, honey, pancakes, omelettes, freshly-squeezed juice and coffee. This can be provided daily for 40 Egyptian pounds (approximately £3.50) per person. If desired, a cook can also be provided for other meals at the house, from a light lunch with salads, babaganoush, tahini and flat breads to an impressive BBQ on the roof. There are some excellent restaurants on the West Bank, many just a few minutes walk away, as well as a mini-supermarket and some small shops.
Riverbank House is beautifully furnished and maintained to high western standards of cleanliness throughout. All rooms have air-conditioning, ceiling fans and insect screens on the windows. The villa has satellite TV and free Wi-Fi internet access. Our guests can use swimming pools at nearby hotels by arrangement for a small charge.
