One of the best Airbnbs I've stayed at! Yoko was so helpful and with her help I made the best out of my short trip to Kyoto. Every single day was perfectly planned from the restaurant suggestions to the sites to the shopping. Yoko went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect for me and was one of the friendliest hosts I've had. I hope to visit Kyoto again soon and when I do, I will stay at Mani Mani again!

Yoko is the most amazing host you could ever have. Besides the fact that her house is beautiful, she helps you plan every minute of your days. She sets up the table for breakfast and is usually there to hang out and discuss your plan for the day. She is the nicest and most accommodating person and our trip to Kyoto would not have been the same without her.

Yoko was a wonderful host, one of the best that I have ever had. She is thoughtful and attentive (perfectly embodying the Japanese concept of 'omotenashi,' hospitality) and as a local is a rich resource for things to do in both her home neighborhood and Greater Kyoto. Her home is beautiful -- seamlessly fusing modern and traditional Japanese aesthetics -- and it is located in a cozy part of town but close to many major attractions. Myonshinji, Ninnaji, Daitokuji, Ryoanji, Kinkakuji and Arashiyama are no more than 15-30 minutes away, closer if you borrow one of Yoko's bikes. Getting to the other side of town, or further south, is also easy. I had a terrific week staying at BC Manimani and will look forward to many future visits. I do not know that it is possible to find a nicer place and person to stay with in Kyoto!

My stay at ManiMani was the best Airbnb experience I've ever had! The place was lovely and clean. The location was perfect, easy to get around to everything we wanted to do in Kyoto, and safe/quiet/convenient. Yoko seriously raised my expectations of what it should be to stay at an AirBnb. She's an expert of the area and will take it upon herself to make sure you have the best possible trip. She went above and beyond to help me when I lost my wallet in Kyoto and had to communicate with the police and she also drove us around in her adorable car. I stayed with my 55 year old father and we both had tons to do that we enjoyed and we both loved Yoko. I can not recommend ManiMani enough. Thanks again Yoko!!

Choosing to stay at Mani Mani with Yoko was the BEST decision I made for my trip to Kyoto. Yoko is the most outstanding host I've ever had on Airbnb, and I mean this with all of my heart. She helped me plan out my day trips around Kyoto and had excellent recommendations and tips. Yoko is also just a very kind, gentle and lovely person, and it was a pleasure getting to know her while i was staying there. Mani Mani is a little oasis of a guesthouse in a quaint and quiet local neighborhood but easy to get around the city via public transportation or bicycle. Everything in the guesthouse was designed beautifully and spotlessly clean. I can't wait to return....thank you so much, Yoko.

Yoko is an absolutely wonderful host and her place a totally cozy and comfortable haven in an interesting neighborhood of the city. Mani Mani is both strikingly modern and quintessentially Japanese, with great attention paid to the optimal use of a small space and exquisite materials used in construction and finishing. The photos do not do it justice. The darling train to Arashiyama is a block away, as are extremely convenient buses to everywhere else in the city. Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, Ryoanji and Kinkakuji are all within walking distance (though a train or bus makes the latter two even more convenient). I didn't have the time to make use of the bicycles, but I'm sure they would add a lot to a longer stay. Bicycling on the main streets is a bit intimidating, at least to me, but Kyoto is full of very small streets. Yoko is very available and full of helpful suggestions, as she is a Kyoto native and very knowledgable about its traditional and modern aspects. There are fun and convenient places to eat close by, including great (and varied!) yakitori and gyoza. While close to some of the major sites in Kyoto, this is not a touristy neighborhood, which makes it all the more appealing. There is an airbnb suite on each of three levels, with a shared kitchen and eating area on the 2nd. Mine was on the ground floor and I absolutely loved it. Yoko offered to pick me up at the train station and her charming father delivered me to my next Kyoto destination in his adorable car. I felt totally at home and look forward to going back for a much longer stay with Mani Mani as my Kyoto base.

I was born in Oku-Noto & raised in Kyoto. I decided to take a unique path in my teenage years by training myself at a traditional and famous restaurant in Kyoto where I learnt much about top level Japanese Hospitality (Omotenashi) and Kyoto's elegant culture and interesting people. I was influenced by the personal philosophies of many accomplished people like Kabuki actors, Sumo wrestlers, politicians, etc. Hospitality comes quite naturally to me. Also, I have been a tourism professional for 20 years which has allowed me to travel all over the world. To date, I have visited more than 70 countries, which has given me a truly global perspective on life.

I have been developing Manimani BnC for almost one year along with my younger brother, Kazunari. He's in his late 30's and is a seasoned and talented designer architect professional who perfectly captured my vision for Manimani. Our design aesthetic is clean, modern and uncluttered. Inspired by Kyoto elegance and enhanced by great works such as handmade books by Matusda Seihon, Japanese artwork, traditional masks and ceramic art works by friends - all who are based in Kyoto..........Toshiyuki Fujiwara, Toshiharu Yoshimura, Fuku Fukumoto. We will continue to develop our unique blend of comfort and design with Manimani as our canvass.

My great encounters all over the world, including my life and experiences in Kyoto, gave me the inspiration to make this fine relaxing and cozy space for myself and for people visiting Kyoto to expand their minds and souls.

I love music (especially Flamenco), arts, reading, antiques, Kyoto culture and history, book-binding and bonsai arrangements and am always drawn to them as a way of relaxing. I am always looking for the best way to get rid of exhaustion after a long flight and the tension of business travel. I also enjoy aroma therapy, SPA, yoga, gym and massage, etc. All of this comes together in my concept of Manimani.

I can offer trip advice not only for Kyoto but also for all over Japan. It would be exciting for me, too, to share the local information so you could come to know the real Kyoto.

I am honored to be a Kyoto resident and it is my great joy and privilege to be an ambassador and introduce the world to this amazing city. The most fulfilling part of having guests for me is that I have the opportunity to help others discover the city and fall in love with it, too.

I look forward to meeting you
