We are located in the hills of central VT, close to good hiking, skiing and swimming. Our place is a working permaculture farm. We produce raw milk, eggs, berries, and veggies, all intertwined into a stunning edible landscape. Unwind in the traditional Finnish Sauna, relax by the living pool, or kick back in an Adirondack chair looking out at the hills of VT. This is one of two yurts at our place. We can accommodate groups of four by booking both yurts. (See Upper Yurt Stay on VT Small Farm )

We will walk you down to your yurt and give you a quick tour of our farm. This yurt is located on the lower part of our farm, although the distance is a mere 300 yards, it is a short yet significant hike down a steep maintained trail. The trail is lit with LED pathway lights to get you to and from the upper farm at night. (In winter this trail can be more difficult be sure to inquire when booking) It has a more secluded and remote feel of the two yurts. There is a stream at the bottom of our property and you can listen to it as you fall asleep! It is a nice 14 ft custom made yurt with a four season insulation kit. There is a wood stove that heats the yurt. If you are unfamiliar with making fires in a wood stove, we will gladly set up and little "workshop" to ensure you can make a good fire in your stove. There is a double bed with a memory foam topper. We provide complementary tea and coffee and drinking water. There is a double burner propane cook top to prepare food. The little kitchen is stocked with pots pans flatware, and cutlery. We can loan you cooler if you keep beverages chilled. During the spring, summer and fall, there is cold running water right at the yurt and an outhouse/composting toilet located directly behind the yurt.

We would like our Guest to experience the farm and have a taste of living in alternative housing situations. You are welcome to swim in the clothing optional living pool anytime. If you choose to go night swimming please do so quietly. There is an outdoor shower (available three season) located near the living swimming pool and sauna area for cleaning up and it provides a liberating experience. Guest have access to the sauna with advanced notice (it's wood fired and we need time to heat it up for you). We will provide you with a refreshing chilled herbal drink for fluid replacement and give you a small tutorial on traditional sauna (as we have many North American misconceptions). We will gladly include you into as many aspects of life on a homestead as you would like. This includes: milking cows, gardening, small fruit production, cheese and butter making, and food preservation. Activities vary depending on the day or season.
WINTER ACCESS: From December to Mid April we generally have quite a bit of snow. Guests who are booking a winter adventure in our yurts will want to be prepared for the trail conditions. Boot packing into the yurt is possible, although it all depends on what kind of snow year we are having. some times micro spikes may be helpful.

We are usually around should you need any recommendations. We also available to sell you fresh raw milk, and some farm fresh eggs (depending on how the ladies are laying) with advanced notice.

-Our property is very private. Going clothes free in and around the living pool, at the cowboy hot tub and in the sauna is the norm for our family, and we invite guest to enjoy the same freedom. It is a very beautiful freedom we have here. We will be sure everyone is comfortable, as we work on creating and protecting a free body culture.

Wonderful marvelous delightful one of a kind experience. Jonathan is an excellent host who has made his beautifully lush farm a VT vacation oasis. Thank you so much Jonathan and family. We already miss the yurt, the cows, the flora, fauna, stars, sauna, everything. I will cherish the symphony of memories.

If you're looking to stay in Vermont, just book this now. You might think "but...a yurt?" If you haven't stayed in one before, it's an experience you really ought not to miss out on. You'll be as comfortable as staying in a normal room, but with the added bonus of waking up and walking out to wildflowers and sun. There's also the pool, the hot tub, and the sauna...try and find another place that offers all these in as unique a location as Jonathan's farm. Worried you'll have to make a fire, or use an outhouse? Well, you will, but these are lost arts that you'll have a good chance to practice here. Use an outhouse for a few days and you'll start to think indoor plumbing isn't all it's cracked up to be. Jonathan himself is a treasure, and you'd be hard pressed to find a better host. He's kind, courteous, and great to speak to. His nature has obviously rubbed off on on the cows, who are friendly just like him, although a little less talkative and with the added bonus of providing you with fresh raw milk. My stay was beyond expectations (which were already high) and I can't wait to go back. Hats off to Jonathan, it's places like this that are what Airbnb is all about.

Jonathan's farm is a truly special place. Don’t leave without spending some time in the sauna. Jumping back and forth between the sauna and the pool under the stars was a dream. Hiking Camel’s Hump is also not to be missed; it's a spectacular and rewarding hike. My recommendation would be to stay here for at least four days so you can have some adventures and also fully experience the quiet and solitude of Jonathan’s slice of paradise!

If you're looking for a quiet getaway in the most beautiful surroundings this is your place! Jonathan and family were hospitable throughout and on hand for any questions or recommendations. We were welcomed with a jar of delicious organic milk and eggs from his farm. With tons of outdoor activities and picturesque towns nearby it all made for a thoroughly enjoyable first visit to Vermont.

My husband and I booked the lower yurt to celebrate my 30th and could not rave about it more. Jonathan was extremely communicative from booking through arrival and was very gracious upon receiving us. He showed us the property and filled us in on absolutely everything we could have needed. The property was breathtaking and the lower yurt was fully private and well appointed with a fire pit and beautiful stone patio overlooking the valley and mountains below. The cowboy bathtub and sunbathing patio were perfect for a sunny afternoon. We spent time jumping between the traditional wood fired sauna and the great living pond to refresh. PSA: Bring headlamps and rubber boots because paths get muddy and lighting is minimal. All in all spectacular stay, and we will be returning.

So glad you guys did it UP!!!! And thank you for mentioning the upgrades as our busy summer has some how left zero time to photograph and document the patio fire pits, and new garden boxes! The mud this year is, what it is, and I message each guest, until the mud dries!

We stayed at the lower yurt 4th July weekend, it was everything we wanted, you are going to have a huge sky at night, if you can stay up, the stars are well worth the wait. I would HIGHY recommend bringing rubber boots, Wellies, because the walk down to the lower yet come be a little muddy in spots, especially if there's been a lot of rain. Jonathan was fantastic helped us down with bags and gave us the history of the farm excetera I would also suggest headlamps, paper towels, No cell service, so beautiful quite and calm. You have total privacy in the lower yurt.. The out house was clean and didn't smell at all.

I am an artist gone farmer and back. My wife, son and new baby and I are living on 10 beautiful acres. We are all foodies for sure, and enjoy all the land is providing for us. My hope is to develop a stunning edible ecological landscape and provide and share, an example of how humans can positively effect the planet.
