The virtues project in Guta is a simple, clean rural home for one or more families and groups of children. In addition to the dormitory, a multi-purpose hall and dining room offer indoor space for activities.
During the summer we have groups of children. But the rest of the year we offer a great place for small groups, clubs, nature lovers, walks, horse riding. We have 4 horses for riding, and the new colt who is too young yet.
The virtues project in Guta is located in a pristine rural environment, surrounded by forests and fields of wheat, sunflower and soybeans. Road traffic is sparse or non-existent. Kilometres of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding radiate from the facility in every direction. During the summer there is swimming in a nearby lake. Swimming during the cold months is available nearby in a modern indoor pool (25m).
The dormitory facility has two sleeping rooms with bunk beds: one room with 10 beds, another with 12, plus a small room for teachers and facilitators (2 beds). If needed, another small building has another bunk bed. During the warmer months, some participants enjoy sleeping in tents where a special camping area is available with modern toilets and shower facilities providing room for 20 or more participants.
The Virtue Project in Guta organises activities year-round during school holidays for a total of 12-14 weeks per year. Since its establishment, the vacation school has taught over 350 children and youth— most attending more than one 2-week session. Experienced and professional teachers are available and special courses can be offered in Russian, Ukranian, and English
We use materials developed by the authors O. Lopatina and M. Skrebtsova (50 Lessons about Life), and Linda Kevin Popov, Dan Popov and John Kavelin (The Virtues Guide). Over time we have developed new materials based on our teaching experience in response to the observed needs, and to develop an individualized approach for each child.
This is a family facility and family values are the norm.
