Mizpah is a renovated chapel in the pretty village of Llanfrynach in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons with the pub just a stroll away.
Ideal for walkers, you can walk into the hills and reach Fan Y Big from the front door. For cyclists, the canal is a mile away.
The room is a peaceful retreat with a woodland theme and vintage fittings, Egyptian cotton towels and sheets and natural bathroom products.
Breakfast of toast, muesli and a selection of home-made jams and marmalade is included.
Mizpah is something a little different. You'll stay in a unique "woodland" room replete with retro decor and vintage fittings, with my grandmother's paintings of fairies, trees and the Brecon Beacons scattered throughout. I've furnished it with style and care to be a peaceful retreat.
The room is a spacious, private and self-contained room with a bathroom separated by vintage frosted glass sliding doors, with an enamel roll top bath (there's also a separate downstairs loo).
The bed is king size, and bedding is hotel grade with Egyptian cotton sheets and a choice of pillows (*or for a more economical option, see "other things to note" below) . Tea, both regular and camomile, ground coffee, fresh milk, filtered water and natural bathroom products are provided in the room as well as a hairdryer, iPod dock, wi-fi, TV, DVD player and Sky. I used to travel the world with work and wanted to create the kind of space I was always looking for: cool, comfortable and clean.
The room is designed for couples, but if you would like to bring a baby and have your own travel cot, that is absolutely fine. However, the space is not suitable for toddlers or small children as the stairs are steep.
DVDs, walking books and maps are available for reference and to borrow on the bookshelf on the landing. I have an excellent DVD collection in the sitting room, feel free to plunder if I'm out.
Toast with home-made jam or marmalade and muesli and cereal are included in the price for you to help yourself. Happy to accommodate all diets with advanced notice.
Guests will have a key and are free to come and go. You are welcome to use the kitchen during the day until 4pm to prepare snacks and make packed lunches, but not full meals and not in the evening without prior arrangement please. Feel free to store items in the fridge and use the dryer for wet clothes.
The sitting room is private as it's my office during the day and where I hang out in the evening.
I'm a friendly sort, here to help with any questions, but I prefer to leave guests to their own devices, as I'm often working from home.
* NB: The cleaning fee goes directly to professional laundering and ironing of Egyptian cotton sheets. If you are happy with hotel grade Percale, I am happy to waive this.
I have a jumpy rescue cat called Reg who may or may not say hello. Don't be offended if he doesn't, his friendliness to guests appears to be entirely arbitrary.
For every booking made, I will buy a bag of food for the local foodbank.
If you do not have reviews, please upload ID to the Airbnb site before your arrival. As a single woman it's just for security. Much appreciated.
As I work from home, please forgive that you may find me less chatty during daylight hours. Otherwise see "Guest Access" regarding use of kitchen (daytime till 4pm) and sitting room (off limits unless otherwise arranged). Feel free to smoke in the courtyard.

Working as a freelance consultant in the film industry, I recently moved to Wales to explore family roots and the mountains, and do a little scribbling. I love to cook and am most famous for my home cured bacon and salmon and home made jam.
