We'll meet at my house in Inverness and drive to the start of our hike through native woodland over a single track road that borders the shore of Loch Ness. We'll then walk down through the forest navigating through the trails to enable the best views of the falls. On the way I'll chat about the history of the location and its connection with Robbie Burns, pointing out some of the hidden inscriptions and poems found on rocks as we walk to the lookout areas for the falls. We'll then head further down through the trails and wonderful scenery as I explain more about the ecology of the area and we'll keep our eyes peeled for deer, red squirrel and if we're really lucky we may see signs of Otters, eventually we'll emerge on the banks of Loch Ness where a certain beastie lives. We head along the shoreline to discover some of the old abandoned huts and climb up to a hidden monument that overlooks the loch. We continue through old burial grounds, stopping at the disused bridge for more photos, and a view up along the lower falls river. Returning gently back up through the forest and gorge to the top where we will have a well-deserved cake and coffee/tea in the Waterfall Cafe. Other things to note Guests need to have a moderate level of fitness and the ability to walk a good 3 miles. Please ONLY consider this tour if your health allows for this kind of activity.
