Experience the Stellenbosch Winelands
A celebration of smaller vineyards driven by passion, honesty and quality. Our first stop is on the Eastern side of Stellenbosch at the foot of the Helderberg Mountains. This is a special location tucked away in the most northern corner of Paradyskloof (Paradise Valley). Pockets of special vines produce a superlative and memorable first tasting. A journey through the vibrant and tree lined streets of Stellenbosch town is up next. Steeped in history and charm we'll tell a few stories from the time we spent here during our youth before we reach the Banghoek Valley. Breath-taking views set the tone for an unforgettable experience with the focus on letting our guests understand the sense of place and taste. These award winning wines are brilliantly crafted and produced with the help of the location's very own microclimate. I struggle to believe there is a better setting to taste wine anywhere in the country. Lunch then takes place at Boschendal's Farm Deli Restaurant on the oldest estate in the region dating back to 1865. The final destination is at a quaint family owned and run vineyard where we host the tasting privately in their underground cellar below their family home or in their garden often with one of the true matriarch's of the industry and her 5 doggos. 3 different wineries all unique in location, style and charm combining for a true Stellenbosch Winelands experience.

India Venster Sunrise Hike up Table Mountain
Pull on your trail shoes and join me, Justin Hawthorne, for an epic day hiking and scrambling up the iconic Table Mountain, a "New 7 Wonder of Nature", via the INDIA VENSTER route - a truly unbeatable Cape Town experience! We meet at dawn and set off under twinkling city lights before watching sunrise from the lower mountain slopes. During the hike we'll discuss the local fauna & flora that occurs here. Some days we'll get treated to wildlife sightings such as the infamous Himalayan Tahr, a charismatic Caracal or an agile Klipspringer, but the focus will be on the world-renowned vegetation covering the mountain slopes - FYNBOS! This is a nature experience where you will have the chance to come away with a good understanding of the rich biodiversity found within the Cape Floristic Region - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is an incredible off-the-beaten-track hike with breathtaking views & scenery but it is demanding in terms of being strenuous (760 m / 2500 foot elevation gain), some exposure to heights (sheer vertical drops) & technical hiking (using your hands to scramble rock pitches, and rugged trail) - that's where I as a guide add peace-of-mind in walking you through the adventurous spots. After reaching the flat topped summit we will descend via cable car (R220 per person), or if it is not operating due to high wind we will have to hike down via Platteklip Gorge.

Boulders Beach - African Penguins home
I will take you to Boulders Beach the most remarkable viewing point of the African Penguins. These African Penguins have colonies from Southern Namibia and all the way around the South African coast. I will will make your experience rewarding as this is the only place where you will be able to swim with the Penguins in close proximity. Penguins are living in the wild and therefore although you get to see them up close and personal there will be no direct contact as I am committed to protecting the welfare of these little guys. The Penguin numbers are fast declining because of over fishing and marine pollution and my goal is teach tourists about our Penguin population, as they are now classified as an endangered species. As this is a private tour, there is flexibility in photo opportunities along the way, and including stopping to take pictures with the seals. Other things to note Bring your camera to take lots of pictures.

We start the tour at 71 Wale Street where we discuss the origins of the oldest suburb in South Africa. We stop along the way and grab a koesiester, before walking down the street with all the colourful houses. This is the most-photographed street in South Africa. We then work our way towards Cape Town’s famed spice shop, Atlas, where you will smell the heady aromas of spices used in everyday Cape Malay cooking. Bo-Kaap and Cape town City Walking Tour
We'll do a walking tour of the Bo-Kaap (where I live) and some of the historical parts of the City of Cape town. We'll start in the Bo-Kaap, where I'll show you some of the main attractions, explain their history and you can take some great photos. You'll also have the chance to try some local delicacies :-) We'll then walk down to the City, visiting a few of the main historical sites, including the Parliament, City Hall and Greenmarket Square. Along the way, I'll tell you about the history behind these and other landmarks and how they shaped modern-day Cape Town.
