We'll welcome you to Raquel's home with a refreshing juice made with tropical fruits. When all the guests have arrived, we'll move to the kitchen and start the activity.
We'll first show you the ingredients we're going to use to prepare delicious dishes, such as pork fricassee, ropa vieja, tostones, and "Moors and Christians" -a combination of white rice, black beans, and spices. This will help you to understand where we Cubans get those ingredients and how much we expect to pay for them.
Then, we'll start slicing the meat, peeling plantains and cutting species for the seasoning, and you'll actively participate in all this. Once we have finished, we'll put all to cook and will start preparing a vegetable salad. In that way, you'll learn how we Cubans season a tasty vegetable salad using a homemade dressing, made with vegetable oil, vinegar, and aromatic herbs.
As you will probably want to repeat this at home, we'll send you the recipes via email, so you'll have the opportunity to prepare Cuban meals to impress your family and friends.
A delicious dessert will also be served as part of the dinner, mainly those with homemade syrup, such as the delicious Guava Shells, served with cheese. When dinner is ready, we will sit at the table and enjoy the food. We'll answer any questions you might have about Cubans day-to-day life during this time.
