Our Azienda Agricola is composed by fields of hazelnut trees, the farm, the bakery and the agritourism.
First of all we'll explain you how we take care of our trees and of the land. Then we'll focus on the hazelnuts, so we'll tell you about the blooming, the maturation and the harvest. Here we'll discuss together about what is the integrated agricolure and why we follow this method.
After this first part we'll pass through the farm and reach the "shelling-room", the place where we keep the nuts and the machines that shell them. Here we'll talk about the shelling-process, Piedmont I.G.P. Hazelnut and its role in the world market.
For the last part of the tour we'll guide you to our bakery. Here we'll explain you how the hazelnut can be used in patisserie and we'll teach you to distinguish high-quality and low-quality products. At this point we'll also discuss about the great theme of food and how the production processes can influence the quality of it.
At the end of the tour we'll serve you the lunch made by us. The lunch includes aperitif, starter,first plate,second plate and tasting of our desserts. We use our hazelnuts and ingredients from the Cascina in every plate!

We like to highlight that with this visit we want to make people more conscious about great themes as artigianal food, integrated agricolure and self-maintenance on the line of Slow Food thoughts

I'm part of the Barroero Family, a the oldest daughter of five. I've been in Cascina Barroero since I was born and now I'm a proud to work here with my parents and sibling. We run our farm to produce Hazelnuts in a ecological and sustainable way and we transform the Hazelnuts in the bakery to make tasty and healty products (cakes, cookies, cremas, ...).
Me, my father and my mother wanted to share with other people our work and our thoughts and a few years ago we started to welcome people in Cascina Barroero. Because we are a family the tours can be made by me, my father (Stefano Barroero) or my mother (Isabella Manzone), depending on the language requested and the needs. Our aim is not just to show you how we take care of the land and how we work in the bakery, but also to make people more consciuos about what we eat and how it is made!

We'll visit the fields and the farm, you'll come in contact with our animals and in particoular our dogs will follow us all the time. Then we'll move to the bakery, that is next to our house, just 40m from the farm. The tasting and the lunch will take place in our tasting-room, close to the bakery. Here there is an open-kitchen and you will be able to follow the preparation of the meal from your sits.

Anche con un po' di pioggia abbiamo potuto vivere questa esperienza a 360°. È stato molto interessante vedere tutto il ciclo di produzione. La parte migliore è stata indubbiamente il pranzo: ottimo! La pasta di scioglieva in bocca . Consiglio questa esperienza assolutamente

Fantastica esperienza presso l'agriturismo della famiglia di Camilla. Eravamo due coppie di amici, una di Asti e l'altra di Genova. Noi astigiani conoscevamo già Cortemilia e il suo prodotto d'eccellenza, la nocciola Tonda Gentile Trilobata Piemonte (denominazione protetta). Il luogo non è facilissimo da raggiugere (colpa di Maps che da per percorribile una strada palesamente per trattori), nonostante ciò siamo riusciti ad arrivare in tempo per la visita. Appena giunti sul posto, Camilla ci ha calorosamente accolto, ed abbiamo iniziato la visita guidata all'azienda agricola. La visita si divide in tre parti: prima viene spiegato tutto ciò che riguarda la pianta della nocciola, poi si analizzano tutte le fasi della lavorazione del prodotto grezzo ed infine verrete immersi nei dolcissimi profumi del laboratorio gastronomico. Dulcis in fundus... il pranzo! Ovviamente tutte le portate contengono la regina, la nocciola; la sua presenza nei piatti però non è mai troppo invadente, vengono infatti proposti ottimi ed innovativi abbinamenti (nocciola salata e piccante) con gli altri prodotti enogastronomici del territorio. Ve lo consiglio ad occhi chiusi, la passione, la simpatia e la conoscenza di Camilla vi conquisteranno, così come lo stesso per la Tonda Gentile!!! Buon viaggio.

Camilla è stata una guida perfetta nel corso dell'intera esperienza, dal benvenuto caldo e spontaneo, alla visita guidata, fino al servizio in tavola e la cura e riguardo nei confronti dei suoi ospiti.
