Newly built "off the grid" tiny cabin on 125 acres of Ozark fields and forest off historic Route 66. Designed for those who want to sample a simpler life. Hike in our woods, ride a bike down the road, view wildlife, enjoy a bonfire and star gazing, or sit on the porch or in a hammock and relax! The cabin is equipped with everything you will need for your off grid experience, including woodstove for heat, fans for cooling, cooking supplies, linens, solar shower and composting toilet.
The cabin was built in a shaded walnut grove on the Old Missouri farm. It was designed for those who want to sample an earlier life without all the modern conveniences. It is a great place to relax, slow down, and unwind. There is no TV, no WiFi, no AC, no "running" water, and no major appliances. The cabin is equipped with everything you need for your off the grid experience: comfortable beds with fresh linens, bath towels, soaps, a full stocked cabin kitchen (seasonings, cooking oil, coffee, tea, cocoa, dishes, pots and pans, camp stoves and grills) and more. We provide guests with 10 gallons of fresh filtered water for drinking, cooking, and washing dishes. If more water is needed, there is an outside hydrant down the road at the Farm House to refill the containers. We also provide a 55 gallon container of potable water for showering. We have a system for hot showers but the bathhouse itself is not heated. Note that in freezing temperatures the heated water system has to be shut down, but we have solar shower bags where you can add warm water and still have a nice shower. We also have a modern composing toilet (much better than an outhouse).
The cabin has a 24 volt solar power system the provides electricity for installed low energy use lights and a DC Vornado fan for cooling the cabin. For those chilly nights we have a wood stove for heat (we provide the wood). If you are not familiar with operating a woodstove, we are happy to demonstrate. Since the cabin is not equipped with a refrigerator, we provide a cooler, but you will need to supply your the ice.
The cabin has a great porch for sitting; hammocks for relaxing; fields and forest for hiking; games to play outdoors; bikes to ride; and books and board games if you want to stay snuggled inside There is also a fire pit with all the needed cooking tools. We also have a 150 yard farm driving range for those who love golf - bring your short irons!
We would be happy to provide information on other things to do and see in our area. We have something for everyone within a short drive of the farm. We are located right off Historic Route 66 Highway and we are co-owners of Route 66 Airfield that is adjacent to the farm.
