Kokedama Plant Making Workshop
In this experience, we will dive into the Japanese art of kokedamas. We will first talk about the fascinating history of this old art form, as well as how it is related to Japanese customs and the philosophy of wabi sabi. Then, I will show you how to make your first kokedama. Making kokedamas involves turning peat moss into a soil ball and then wrapping it in sheet moss to create a self sustaining pot to hold your plant. Each person will have their own station to create TWO kokedamas, that will eventually be taken home. This is perfect for those who are looking for a romantic and unique date or an enjoyable time spent with a family member learning a new trade. We have hosted many birthday and bachelorette parties, if you are looking for a special way to celebrate in nature. We are also perfect for group team building if you'd like to do a private corporate/business class. Come prepared to get your hands dirty!

Historic Mansions of Hancock Park
We'll drive/walk through the historic Hancock Park neighborhood, once home to silent film stars like Buster Keaton, music legends like Nat King Cole, and moguls like Howard Hughes. The uniquely preserved mansions in the area were home to the city's wealthy elite at a time when Beverly Hills was just a lima bean farm. You'll see the theater where 13-year-old Judy Garland was discovered, the house from "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?", and the apartment building made famous by Mae West. You'll hear stories about racist neighbors, deadly drunk driving accidents, the Mexican-American war, JFK's shenanigans during the 1960 Democratic National Convention, the origin of Ralphs Grocery Stores, '80s movie villains, Freemasons, and Prince William and Princess Kate's honeymoon. The streets of Hancock Park are a nexus point for Los Angeles architecture, politics, entertainment industry milestones, and scandal...and yet even most locals are unaware of how deep its roots go. This is a unique chance to access it all! Other things to note There are no bathrooms along the route, so please be sure to go before you arrive! There will be some walking involved during the tour--nothing too strenuous, but be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

From the adjacent bike path and pocket parks, she'll tell you about the the unique landscape and history of the river -- the birthplace of Los Angeles. She will also take you inside the soft-bottom riverbed. You will also get the inside scoop on the creative businesses popping up next to the river as well as as plans to create a world class park there. Other things to note: Wear your walking shoes. Bring a hat, sunscreen, a water bottle, and, of course, your smartphone or camera! We'll provide the corgi treats. Be ready for some corgi hugs and kisses. Feel like raising the adventure level? Let us know and we can schedule special routes that take you to the LA River's yet-untamed left bank. These walks would meet at different locations and might include a stop at a former train yard.
