You will join me in my workshop in the heart of Old Bruges and learn to handmake your own sterling silver ring. During our time you will have hands on experience of forging, shaping and finishing your own silver ring. First you will choose which finger you would like the ring for, measure your silver and cut to size using a handsaw. Next you will choose from a wide selection of hand stamps to add a custom message onto the inside of the ring. This could be a name, date or your favourite beer! You will learn how to hammer the silver into a ring shape using mallets and a triblet. I will then heat and solder your ring while explaining the process of heating and joining silver together. Next I will show you how to add textures and markings to your ring. This is your unique ring and your time to really show your creative side! The last step will be to choose the finish and polish; this could be highly polished to add some sparkle, a satin finish or even a rough forged look to your ring. Finally you will have your own silver ring to keep, handmade by you in the Heart of Old Bruges, a fabulous and unique way to remember your trip to our magical city. Other things to note No previous experience of jewellery tools or working with silver is needed to enjoy the workshop and make a ring. We will use 925 sterling silver for your ring. In a small group, we'll explore three areas of Bruges like the City walls. With its 26 hectares of greenery and more than 300 trees it formes a wide green belt. Windmills have graced Bruges' ramparts ever since the construction of the outer city wall during the 13th century. The Sint-Janshuis Mill is still grinding flour and the only mill open to visitors. As we ride, I will tell you lots of legends and stories about the history. We'll hop in to the small, whitewashed almshouses. More than 46 blocks of almshouses have been preserved, scattered over the city. These are mostly clustered around a cosy courtyard. We'll move onto some of my favourite spots, including the Saint-Anna neighbourhood, a charming garden district. It offers a varied yet typical Bruges scenery with old bridges and stepped gables elegantly reflected in the water.
